Just got this Bushmaster XM-15 (E2S) and Bushnell TRS-25 for 950$ (pics included). I Believe this model with the carry handle is also called the Patrolman's Carbine. Feedback appreciated along with suggested upgrades. Thanks!

On a side note how do you upload the pics directly to the sight so a preview can be shown without going to a secondary site?

good luck with your new rifle! now you can go broke like the rest of us bolting parts on it.
Really? Just to clarify this is not the cheap carbon version, on most sites I looked on this was going for upwards of $1,000 and it is in an unfired condition.
Well...
If it's what I think it is, and it looks like it is, they are $565 new and that optic is $60. http://www.slickguns.com/catalog/brands/127 http://www.amazon.com/Bushnell-Trophy-TRS-25-Riflescope-tilted/dp/B00CIY7JAU I hope someone will tell me I am wrong, for your sanity. Either way, you are now part of the obsession... |

In NY because of the un-s.a.f.e. act the same rifle would be around 1,250.00 with a modified stock (thorsden) or receiver to be legal. So price is fluid depending upon location. If you are happy with the rifle that is really what matters.
Ask Stazi how much it would cost where he was born. Oh wait .... |
Well I cannot see pictures, post pictures not links
Here is one to look at for you, BRAND NEW and those red dots are around $50-$60 |
Wow if that is the same rifle I am really pissed. These are a few of the links that I was looking at.

After further examination it is the A3, so I didn't overpay (at least as much as some people thought) whew. I can't figure out how to post pictures directly to the site and not include a link so I'm not sure how you guys can see it without clicking the imgur link.
Overpaid by about $200-$250.
Either way, being happy with your purchase is the most important thing. Hope you enjoy the new rifle! |
You got hosed man. Those rifles haven't been bought in numbers at those prices since right after Sandy Hook. You could have gotten a complete BCM or Colt for what you paid. I'd return it if it were me.
Don't feel too bad ethan. I have wasted a sickening amount of money buying guns impulsively and than selling them at a loss when I decide I want something else. It's part of finding out what you like for some people.
Given the current market, you way overpaid. Prices on guns and ammo vary as much as gasoline or tech stocks. Always do some research before shelling out the coin.
for that money you could have bought a PSA premium kit for $500 a stripped lower $70 and a used carry handle $50 and then a real aimpoint pro model $400 for $70 more and HP MP tested parts and a cold hammer forged barrel
Pretend you bought it during the "Panic"....there's probably quite a few in here that overpaid during that time
Just one more to say that you over paid by at least $200 or more, you should've reasearched it before you pulled the trigger.
Don't worry about overpaying a bit on your first because here is what is going to happen.
You are now going to come down with a terrible sickness that is only manageable by buying more but that will only help for a short period because you will crave the urge to build. Then something stupid will happen again and prices will shoot up. Then unload the first and re-coop your money. In the long run $200 is not much these days. Forget about the price and enjoy the rifle. |

Don't sweat the loss. I'm sure you've made a profit off something you sold in the past. Call it a wash and as you get more, you'll get better at finding the deals.
Enjoy your rifle! |
don't sweat overpaying by $200. I got into the AR game in 2009 when I didn't know any better and spent $2,000 on two lowers, a BCM upper, Eotech, 8 magpuls, and 1k of tula.

Read a lot before you break it down and try to upgrade it. |

With the current market you over paid by a few hundred. HOWEVER, the market goes up and down. You can almost always find something cheaper someplace else if you look long enough. Sometimes you may be looking for a year or two, but with AR prices being at a huge low, you might want want to check with the board members before you buy any other AR15s.
On a brighter note, you have a new AR! Welcome to the board, and Merry Christmas. |
Over paid but you live and learn now buy some ammo and shoot the hell out of it

And lately...Cheaper than Dirt has been anything but. With that said...yes, as the others stated, you overpaid by about $200 bucks. if you ca return it, do it. If not...keep it and shoot the hell out of it, it isn't a junk rifle, it was just a bit over priced is all. Like everyone will eventually say...we all have our "duh" gun buys, I know I do. I will also say I have seen FAR WORSE deals than that... |

You obviously get the point by now of what your rifle and optic are worth. As others have said, you live and learn and what's done is done. Moving forward, be sure to RESEARCH any and all future purchases and fight the urge to impulse buy based on emotional excitement. Most of us have been in your shoes at some point so, don't dwell on it.
Learn to shoot the rifle proficiently as is before you go adding anything because trigger time will dictate what your needs will be down the road. I highly suggest taking a basic carbine class or get into local rifle matches to help steer you in the right direction. I will say that your first purchase should be a quality sling and from there, stock up on ammo and magazines. Browse this site and read up on the proper maintenance of your rifle. Chances are the questions you have, have been asked hundreds of times before so, use the search feature for similar threads relating to what you want to know. Congrats on your purchase and welcome aboard... |

to post pics look go to your post reply, see the little black boxes? look for the picture one... fourth one on the far right then post your link in that. make sure you double check you don't have two HTTP://
and don't feel bad, I payed 400 bucks for my lower during the panic... I was planning on building an AR but held it off and then SHTF... |

Bass Pro and CTD and not good indicators of current street price.

I just bought same gun for $550. You over paid. I hope for your sake it was made in the Wyndham ME factory (mine is). Or you may be burned twice.

OP, you ain't the first one of us to get burned on a gun deal and I seriously doubt you will be the last.....
It may be of some consolation for you to know that, just recently, got burned on a Glock for Aimpoint deal worse than any After-Sandy-Hook newbie ever thought about.....and I've been trading guns and gear for 20 years! What's done is done, so I mounted that bitch on my M1A just like it had been in the BHD movie and love the hell out of it. You'll only make your financial fiasco worse if you keep worrying about it and trade it for something new and lose more money. Welcome to the "club" - which happens to be the world's foremost source for knowledge on your AR-15....now go shoot the mo'fo' and enjoy it. |
I got the moe version of that Bushmaster with od furniture and mbus for $500 brand new and a trs25 with riser for $50 shipped from psa (or rather their subsidiary tiger something).
I haven't taken it out of the box yet since I'll probably sell it "as new" when prices are reasonable. |
You did average. But you found this place and signed up.
Your next AR will be outstanding. |
Yeh, red dot on that is kinda poopy - would've been a decent score if it came with an aimpoint. Sorry bud.
