I've never used the Crossfire, but I like the Viper.

I would recommend against the Weaver, I was disappointed in the field of view and critical eye relief.

Sure. I don't think there has been an established parts list other than:

14.5" or shorter
Variable optic
Free floated handguard
Extra points for paint

No ACOG's?  Or red dot's with a magnifier?

Acog is legit.

I have the weaver on a beater AR, I like it, no complaints. No experience with the vortex.

This thread is going to cost me money....

It's perfect for me, 3-3.5 inches.

last question - how far out have you shot with it?

Is 25 - 250 yards GTG with it?

being that it will be on a 11.5 I don't see myself stretching out past 250+ with the carbine.

ETA - RustedAce posted arguably the sickest rifle in this thread thus far, so that may be why I have a soft spot for ACOGs in here right now.

So a 3x acog is ok but a 3x magnifier isn't.  Such a fickle crowd.

Fuck that, mine does 1x and 3x. While it may not be variable, it is more flexible than an ACOG alone.

Honestly, I don't like the magnifier much though. The Micro dot looks shitty through the Vortex 3x. CompM2 and CompM4 dots look much better, but they are too large and heavy for this application.

I had a nightforce 2.5-10x32 previously.  It was a very nice scope.  This I prefer and like better.  The turrets, the stops, the extra light (due to bigger objective), the extra magnification, the clarity, are all top notch.  I couldn't really ask for much more in a scope.. and putting out $3-5k for something German made just doesn't work for me.

I think the OP should make an edit on first post to make a guide line for the "mini recce".

variable optic rule is null and void if said lower has third pin.

Also 14.5 and shorter barrels are required or we're no better than the other thread

It's a 14.5 BCM middy barrel, BCM upper, Spikes BCG, and and a 13 inch troy bravo rail. It's a heavy bitch and I've been wanting to stick a scope of kind on it rather than an eotech for awhile.

Burris MTAC on a Bobro extended mount

Thanks!

Those are exactly what I am looking at right now, plus a more upright grip.

Am also looking at the LWRCi like RustedAce has.

Then maybe a more compact light.

Then maybe a new foregrip or bipod.

Then maybe...
