I asked for my call-sign to be Anvil, blunt-force, or grizzly. I was given "Behemoth"

just finished my kinda mini recce, it has a 14.5" barrel. Just wondering what everyone was putting up weight wise on them. Mine seems a little on the heavy side weighing in at 8lbs 9oz. That's without a mag but with the vortex 1-4 and mini scout mounted. By far one of my favorite rifles to shoot, I'm just curious about weight.

View Quote Eh, that's about right, depending on your barrel profile. My mini recce is a 14in govt profile, chrome lined barrel. Its got a Geissele 13in mk8, mini scout, and swarovski 1-6 and I only weigh 4 ounces less than you. |

Anybody running 14.5 lightweight barrels out to 200yd with decent results? I have a BCM standard lightweight upper with the Geissele MK2 that I want to repurpose into a dedicated distance runner.

Tried a 13in, said it was too big. I talked it into a 11.7in SLR ION Lite. It was pleased. (won a 12in stealth in the raffle ) |

Does the recon mount give you enough eye relief or do you wish you got the recon-x? The eye relief is plenty. I think the X is probably a bit over kill. I'm currently playing around with a riser underneath the mount, and the added height actually makes it quite faster and easier to find the eyebox for me. The whole "heads up" shooting thing definitely has merit. If I end up liking this like I think will, I may just switch to the "H" |

Mil pricing was around 250 and honestly.....holy shit. at 4x I was hitting 30/30 with 52bthp at 300y on an ipsc steel silhouette. I'm going to go to their site and see if they offer a 20" or longer for a prairie dog rig i'm dreaming up.... |

On the upside you get a fancy reticle and some magnification for longer shots and target id. On the downside you lose some speed at 1x. I have tried a few different 1-4x scopes on my sbr trying to like them but I keep going back to red dot for the speed within 100 meters. On my 16" recce I use a 1-4x SWFA and its awesome. You just have to decide what you what your rifle to do. |

Thanks man, I might eventually buck up and buy a KAC 1.93" mount to get rid of the combo but I wanted to try out the height before committing. Out of all the things on the gun the height of the optic is what I do like. |
