Don't worry, I'm only a reservist now.  Not gonna threaten the shitty AD NCOs.

although i'm considering an AGR spot with MD ANG.  They're standing up a shop, will send me to the additional school I want, *AND* a 5-figure signing bonus.  Plus nearly immediate promotion.....and I keep AD retirement.

I was testing some of the recent uppers I built, and kept jamming one. I was pretty bummed, but took the bolt apart and figured out that the extractor is basically shot.

All four of the CQBRs work. The one I replaced the gas tube on seems to be fixed as well.

I'm not a lawyer and i'm definitely not your lawyer.

But, a 5320.20 isn't asking for "permission", it's "notification" to the ATF that you are traveling with an NFA item. So, once it's submitted, you are G2G.

At the beginning of each year, I fill out 5320.20 for each state that I may travel to during that year with NFA items and put multiple dates (Primarily FL for when I travel to my condo in Destin, but also AL, GA, KY, TX, etc - anywhere I think I may go that year with personal NFA items). Though, I do more traveling with items that are under my employer's FFL/SOT than I do my personal kit. But, whenever I travel with my family or non-work travel, I always travel with NFA items.

YMMV.

Are there any differences between the Westernsport overrun barrels vs the commercial DD barrel (besides gas port)? Any difference in engraving? Or gas block dimples?

I just picked up a barrel and I think it is one of the Westernsport ones, but I'm not 100% sure.

sbye........just removed one of the WS barrels from its mesh wrapper...........here is what is etched/stamped into it..........
                        091320012-8
                  DD    F     MP       5.56         NATO                         1/7
There are dimples for the gas block screws  (I removed the block to check)     I was also surprised to find a beveled washer included for the muzzle device.

I've had these since WS ran them for the steal deal price.

I have a DD factory upper, but would prefer to not pull the RIS II to check its' markings.   HTH

It's my personal weapon and as long as I use reputable parts I'm gtg. Certain things have to remain factory like the trigger, buffer and fire controls. Started life as a 6920 and I ended up with a factory 10.3 barrel.

It's my personal weapon and as long as I use reputable parts I'm gtg. Certain things have to remain factory like the trigger, buffer and fire controls. Started life as a 6920 and I ended up with a factory 10.3 barrel.

Just a curiosity, being that there are so many companies making or branding parts, does your armorer maintain a list of who is considered reputable? Either way, that's pretty awesome that you have that ability.

Found a decent price on a mk18 RIS II for my 2nd CQBR build.  Gonna ship my 6920 barrel to be chopped and get my Colt CQBR on.

There are dimples for the gas block screws  (I removed the block to check)     I was also surprised to find a beveled washer included for the muzzle device.

I've had these since WS ran them for the steal deal price.

I have a DD factory upper, but would prefer to not pull the RIS II to check its' markings.   HTH

Thanks Stoner25mkiv!

Mine is:
081317207-B
DD F MP 5.56 NATO 1/7

Mine also has 2 dimples for the gas block.

I don't have the correct tools to measure the gas port, but I used drill bits to check. Size 50 (0.0700) fit, but the 49 (0.0730) was too big

Edit: Mine did not have a beveled washer, but I bought it off the EE, so I can see why it may not be on it.

I am thinking that I may have got one of the overrun barrels... Which is cool because I had a WTB ad for one, then got impatient and just bought this DD barrel.

My serial #, or whatever that number is, may also end in a "B".  I was undecided about it being an 8 or a B.............also, you think yours might be 8th month of 13, and mine the 9th month of '13.   Yours being 17,000 plus and mine 20,000 plus?

You're right on the month and year (See this thread LINK) I am not 100% sure about the rest of the numbers. You are probably correct though.

Took a SAW 10.3" upper in on a trade figuring I might use it for trade fodder to grease the wheels of some of my other works in progress.

Made the mistake of throwing some stuff on it "just for the hell of it," now I'm seriously considering whether or not I just want to keep it.

I probably still will try to get it out on turnaround... but damn if it's not tempting to just keep it...

LEO here. I'd say it really depends on the size of the department, along with the guidelines set forth by said dept. I know a lot of small PD's where it's encouraged to carry your own rifle because otherwise you won't have one. Where i work it's up to the armorer to approve what you can and can't carry. I know some are carrying SBR's while other guys are carrying plane jane off the rack rifles. On the flip side of that, some larger departments you can only carry what you're issued.

There is no list per se. The issue is the armorer doesn't want rifles on the street that have a bunch of chicom shit hanging off of them.

Also, my CDQ sling mounts showed up today.

Pretty much this. My agency issues/authorizes Colt, BCM and Daniel Defense guns. I chose to carry my own because I'm familiar with it and I know it works.

I hate all you fuckers getting your Wardens. I've had a backorder since June and I still haven't seen it. Apparently SF likes to drag their feet on the FDE's.
