Damn, if overrun Elcans were going for $3k I'd be tempted to sell mine.

no kidding... I would sell mine in a heartbeat for 3k

Seeing that price definitely had me thinking about it as well.

Of course, any magnified optic is going to be slower than a red dot. But my eyes suck, so I am still a slut for magnified optics.

What do you guys think, go back to the T1, or put an EXPS on? Or just leave it irons until I feel like blowing the money on an Elcan?

I'm going to stick a CAR back on it eventually.
I'm moving towards CAR stocks on all of my ARs, including non-clones.

Awhile back some one asked how the Navy has the Mk 18 on the property book, here you go.

Rifle, Mk18 Mod 1 Lower Assy

Rifle 10 CQBR (Mod 0 upper only)

Rifle 10.3 RIS IIA URG (Mod 1 upper only)

So each upper and lower is tracked by a different serial number.

Awesome. Are the lowers still all A1 lowers that have been redesignated with the Mod 1 engraving?

No man, he posted M4A1 marked lowers with the M4A1 engraving lined out and NAVY 18-1 engraved below it. I'll edit this post with a reference thread page number here in a few. It's a cloning game-changer!

EDIT: Check out page 1007 of this thread for some Mk 18 Mod 1 goodness

I must have missed that page, or just forgot altogether. Is this new stuff being consolidated in the OP?

I thought he also said one was marked

Mk 18-1

Upper case "M", lower case "k" with a "space" and than "18-1"?

I remember questioning Combat_Diver about it and him saying "correct".

I don't remember seeing it like that. For some reason it's that way in the books but marked NAVY 18-1 on the A2 profile receivers...

12.5"? Not short enough, or too long in my opinion

Was this me that started this FSP craze? Because if so, I am deeply sorry,....to all of your wallets. I hope I just stumbled in on the middle of this, because if I didn't, I want some fuckin' sort of commission from DD and Brownells, lol.

Anyway, I know I'm probably committing blasphemous treason by posting this picture in here, but I need some clarification on an SBR upper I'm thinking of building. I know something similar was used by Delta in the early to mid-90's, popularised by the movie Black Hawk Down, but what is the technical name for this rifle (it's not an exact replica, I believe there was a CAR stock on it, for starters).

Is it just called a car-15? And what barrel length is it? Also, it would help to know that mount for the light as well.

Someone please enlighten me. Aside from the nostalgia factor and size, the CAR stock is kinda meh~. Don't get me wrong, I think they look great. But they're nowhere near as comfortable as a sopmod or CTR. Thoughts?

RAS is en route from another member here. I still need a Colt upper.

I rode for a while. Ducati Monster S2R1000. It was awesome under PERFECT conditions, e.g., no other cars on the road, between 55 and 75 degrees, no rain, clean roads. Problem was it was NEVER perfect conditions, usually too hot and too many cars with driver's that were not paying attention. It got to be a game of how many times could I save my own life. When I realized I was riding less than once a month, I got rid of the bike and moved to cars, much happier now.

Going for something close to this:

with a paint job to match my M4 SOPMOD 1:

I use them because they're compact and super lightweight. SOPMODs and even CTRs add quite a bit of weight and the SOPMOD especially is a bit longer. They do what they need to do and otherwise stay out of the way keep the gun light.

That's a Colt 733. 11.5" barrel. Solid rifle. Can't comment on this light mount, but I'm pretty sure they just used 100mph tape back in the day.

TA01NSN-RMR master race bromego (Kidding. I pretty sure you have one anyway, at least according to your last post.)

Anyway, phone looks to be having an aneurism, and looks to be completely broke (it could, potentially be just the battery, but the way it turns on and keeps cycling through the startup screen, without actually getting to the point where it actually works, suggests otherwise), so I had to go and find my actual camera to take these. *sigh* First world problems at it's finest.

That's a .45 can on the Glock 17C (I know, the C model is mildly ironic, considering I upgraded to two aftermarket KKM Precision barrels, neither of which have a cutout for the ports.), but it can be changed easily into a 9mm or .45 can. Thing is Bollywood quiet, lol.

All this set-up needs (besides a ton of more rifles, SBR or not, a .308 semi, optical and barrel upgrades to the full length 5.56, and at least one full auto lower or drop in sear) is a Wilson Combat Supergrade or Les Baer Ultimate Master, in .45, with at least one threaded barrel for it.

Lol, yeah and a leg.....a kidney.....and perhaps a testicle. That big glass is stupid expensive

Isn't it just a Leopold scope? I don't even think it's that expensive, is it? I mean, try buying a Hensoldt ZF 3.5-26x56, lol. 7 g-wizzels. Crazy, but I want it BAAADDD.

I hate the SOPMOD, or any other stock with "sloping cheekweld."
I cut grip tape to size and put it on the back of the CAR to make it a bit grippier, and there's not enough noticeable difference between the MOE/CTR and the CAR to justify the difference in weight. As Tinycrumb said, they're noticeably lighter and make the gun very small when collapsed, which is a benefit to me as I carry a rifle in a discrete case rather often.

So each upper and lower is tracked by a different serial number.

Tracking 3 serial numbers, and therefore, 3 sensitive items, seems like it would get annoying as fuck reaaalllly quick.

For those of you guys who run/have run a Docter piggybacked on a TA01, or those who know, what's a good price for a mount?

Very nice indeed. I need to grab me one of those in the not too distant future (I might scoop a black one though. Who knows.). But, yeah, hopefully the form times won't take you as long as my (now second to last) Form4(s). It actually had three forms that I sent in at the same time. A Mk18 SBR, a Thunderbeast 30p-1 suppressor, and a SOCOM 5.56 RC suppressor. I shit you not, it took well over 2 years to get it all to me. Hell, I actually moved to a different state about a year before it got to me, and had to go through the process of transferring all the guns to another class 3 dealer while the ATF jacked off.

Now, I don't want to get your hopes up, but apparently they doubled their staff over at the ATF (for approving the documents, etc), and my last one, which was about 6 months ago (when I got it) only took about three months start to finish. So you might actually still be alive to see that baby in your hands. Fingers crossed though.

My Mg42 took 13.5 months. Trust me when I say my expectations are not high

In the wild (there are numerous other pictures you can find on the interwebs):

http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c131/captrichardson/Delta727-1.jpg

Is it just called a car-15? And what barrel length is it? Also, it would help to know that mount for the light as well.

Thank you in advance, and I apologize for the sacrilege. Please forgive my soul.

Thank you. Yeah it looks like the first picture I posted (which I think is the way I'm going to go, except with a CAR stock), is a Model 733, but I think the Delta guy in the bottom picture is sporting a 14.5 inch barrel, so maybe a Model 723? Considering I'm not really interested in going to an exact clone, I'm probably gonna rock the 11.5 incher for better maneuverability, more badassness () and lighter front end when I whip on the suppressor. Thank you for your input.
