Paints I used on the above weapon:
https://farm1.staticflickr.com/644/21139961374_d64201fb3e_b.jpg

Aside from the rattle cans, I also picked up one of these nets.

First thing you want to do is wash your weapon, degrease it, use rubbing alcohol, simple green, whatever, just to get the oils off so the paint will stay.

I started with a tan coating. Painted one side, let it sit 15-20 minutes, flipped it to the other side, and painted that side tan too. Shake your cans up well, and make sure they aren't spitting droplets out. Hold it close enough to coat, far enough to not cause runs. I want to say it was about 18 or so inches. A Test spray on cardboard will help you judge.

After the first coat dried, I laid the netting over the entire weapon, and did some stripes of the lighter green here or there. Some vertical, some diagonal. Waited until it was dry, repeated on the other side.

After that, flipped it back, laid the net, making sure that it wasn't laid in the same place, so that when I painted, I wouldn't be creating the same lines. Applied a couple of olive stripes or spots, let it dry, repeat on the other side.

Once agin, let it dry, put the net over it differently, did a run of dark brown. Let it dry, flipped it, rinse and repeat.

After it dried this time, instead of going right to the net, I started looking for where it was too dark, where there were dark spots, and where there were large light spots. In the areas that seemed to dark, I would place the net over that area, and hit it with some tan again. In the light areas, I would hit it with either one of the greens or the brown, depending on what seemed wasn't present in the area.

Both sides, let it dry, and then repeated the spot painting, each time, making sure my net was different. Be sure to go over the original lines with other colors, some of the tan with darker colors, some of the darker colors with tan, so that the lines stand out, breaking up the pattern.

The great thing about rattle cans, is if at first you don't like it, you can just keep going until you do.

Hope that helps, and let me know if you have any other questions.

I was so close to getting the SOCOM suppressor. I ended up going with the AAC M42000, but it is a bit heavy. How do you like the Surefire? Is it really worth the money?

To be honest, I don't have too much experience with other cans to make a personal comparison. I have shot with a friend who owns the same AAC, and it sounds quite to me, both as an observer, and taking turns shooting each other's weapons. That said, I do like it, and have another SOCOM sitting in jail waiting on the stamp to come in. The one I really want is an NT4, but that'll have to be some time later, as my next project is going to be NV.

All in all, though, I'm happy with it.

Why do we see the LMT rear sight on the mod 0 but nothing else?  Not even M4 1/1.5's.

I believe the correct answer is because the Mk18 Mod 0 isn't a SOPMOD weapon per se, like everything else we clone.

Plus flip down rear BUIS destroys fixed rears when using an RDS.

I absolutely HATE fixed rears with an RDS.

have a FDE SOPMOD that should arrive next week going on it - that is just a place holder.

Moved the one that was on it to the Geissele 14.5

Very nice.

I just realized we're in the Mk18 thread and not 14.5, so I shall warn you the C4 rail might catch some flak from certain members. But you probably already know that possibility.

Me too bro. I wish I could afford to snag another one to chop up and turn my block 1 CQBR into an FSP B2 CQBR.

But luckily the 14.5 FSP floats my boat just as much.

Judging by the markings on his upper (not from DD custom shop) I'm fairly certain he has the commercial port.

H2, its a Stock DD upper but as a left handed shooter I had to run a SLR adjustable gas block "the clone gods are crying"  the gas was just way over the top, I run it suppressed 100% of the time, the gas is still there but its bearable.

Than I'm gonna get killed in the streets mine is .08 lol

Nah dude you'll live. Just make sure you throw an H6 buffer in it then throw some fat chunks of lead in the rear of the buffer tube, then cross your fingers and twiddle your twinkle toes in hopes your gun will still cycle (which it won't because of the lead chunks)

I think an H2 or H3 with the can should get you decently set up, adjustable gas block would be optimal with the gaping port/can though

Welcome to the party!

There have been a number of good new additions to this thread, I must say. Glad people are coming out of the woodwork.

Honestly all I need is the length of the fsp cut for my project

Gonna use a basic end mill and chamfer the edges with it after pretty basic shit really will prob take 10 min lol.  1000 rpm I'll keep tooling simple and use a rough/ finish end mill.  Will leave an acceptable finish.   Gonna use a manual for this

I'm thinking of running an H3 with my DD barrel, but it runs suppressed and unsuppressed all day with an H2 and Federal Lake City 55 grain.
