That's a killer deal!  I'm leaning towards the Griffin M4SD-K because it attaches to a standard A2.  The clone Gods will curse me I know......

I think you'll kick yourself not buying the correct can if you're buying all the other correct parts as is.

That's my opinion at least.

This.

Like I've said a quadrillion times now, If you buy the wrong part, no matter what it is, you're going to spend twice as much in the end. Because you will hate your clone incorrect existance, and still end up buying the correct part anyways.

true. I like my SF SOCOM but I still wish I had gone with an NT4. Definitely won't make that mistake with my HK416 clone. Get the right parts now, and you can save a bunch...or build another clone lol.

Yeah, go with the SOCOM deal IMO. I mean, I've got a 762-MINI SOCOM RC...the only noticeable differences being the bore diameter, the missing NSN, and the slightly louder noise...but I'm still tempted by this deal, because it's soo affordable, and it's mo betta in view of the Almighty I'm saving up right now for an AEM5 for my Mk12 stuff, so those funds are sorta locked - otherwise, I might be buying the 556 SOCOM RC right meow, as you all should be!

Greeaaaaat.... I was just charged on the 19th and ordered on 8th. I guess it's best to forget about it for a while

You guys are right, and make great arguments....but FML that means buying three Surefire FH to run the SOCOM on all my AR's.  Any reason why running a SOCOM SB on my MK18 isn't kosher?

It's not kosher because it's not what is issued, but considering the 4P is a hard to find part and people have strong stances on brakes/suppressors lifetime you won't catch flak.

And if you're talking about an actual MK18 they didn't use brakes either. It would most likely only be an NT4 suppressor FH or the 4P.

In agreeance with.

Cheese, most if not all Mk18's I've seen pics of had the KAC M4QD. And incase you're referring to the block 1 CQBR as a Mk18,  we've seen these with M4QD, SF4P, and 249F. And incase you're referring to a block II CQBR as a Mk18, these have mostly been seen with SF4P, and M4QD.

One has stronger welding. The SOCOM 2 isn't out yet either and isn't an issued (again if you want to clone).

One of my good friends is running the Recce with a taper mount and he absolutely loves it.  The only drawback is the proprietary taper mount, but he said the lock up and design is GTG.

I think I may hold out for the socom 2 model.

Maybe. Want both in .22 and .30 ...or may just the .22 and get the FA762SS for my .30.

Also want .45 cab...would make me want to buy an FN45 Tac even more

I'd go with the socom 2 model if money really isn't a factor.

The only noticeable difference is the end cap.

Supposedly Surefire hasn't even made any yet this year which is why I jumped on the deal for the original RC.

Yeah, I'd just snag an RC. I'm sure the RC2 will eventually be in use, but until then, they don't call it a clone for nothin'

I went with AAC Ti-Rant for my new FNH FXH 45 TACTICAL and I hoping that I get a call in the next month or two to come pick it up and bring my 2nd. silencer home. 1st. was two months ago SF SOCOM RC 5.56MM. And next will be a 9mm for my US NAVY SEALS  Sig MK25. I own a Blk and FDE Version and one threaded barrel.

Soooo I did a bad thing and built block 2.5 or 3.... I forgot how hot these fuckers get. Now I'm kicking myself for not having gone w/ a mk18 risII rail (I couldn't find any.)

Does the mk18 ris get too hot to hold quickly? I know they all do at some point I just feel like w/ the geissele rail it got hot quick. I also have a metal laden support hand that may have been acting like a heat sink though.

Yeah I know that. Just wondering if they don't get as hot due to more material/pic rails and the ability to put covers on them. I should just get some decent gloves I guess lol.

ETA: I know w/ the socom bbl and m4a1 risII it seemed to take a lot longer to get hotter, but I guess the heavier profile bbl plays a big part in that.

I think I have an SU230 on the way. Now to decide what to do with my "civie" Elcan SpecterDR. Bought the "civie" to replace the Eotech, and was going to use the EO on the 300blk (10.3 DD/RisII), but now I can't decide to use the Eotech or the Elcan civie on it. Damn the bad luck!

Jk. I still like you even when you're being a wuss.

The SOCOM profile barrel makes a HUGE difference in barrel/rail heat over my gov pro's.

Guess that's the nature of SBRs. My 11.5 got real hot quick but had a troy tube style rail on it.

Jk. I still like you even when you're being a wuss.

The SOCOM profile barrel makes a HUGE difference in barrel/rail heat over my gov pro's.

Does the mk18 ris get too hot to hold quickly? I know they all do at some point I just feel like w/ the geissele rail it got hot quick. I also have a metal laden support hand that may have been acting like a heat sink though.

DD rails don't have a heat shield either

Yeah I know that. Just wondering if they don't get as hot due to more material/pic rails and the ability to put covers on them. I should just get some decent gloves I guess lol.

ETA: I know w/ the socom bbl and m4a1 risII it seemed to take a lot longer to get hotter, but I guess the heavier profile bbl plays a big part in that.

RIS II gets really hot after a couple of mags.

I agree with this. My SOCOM barreled uppers don't seem to get nearly as hot as quickly as others.
