Lol in the mk 18 thread? No. You know, you really should try to get over yourself though. I love confrontation in person, but you seem to love it on the internet. It's sort of mind boggling how 99 percent of your posts are either confrontational or argumentative.

If you review all the "real" pics in the three MK18/CQBR threads, tan SOPMODs (not the painted ones) are extremely rare in the wild.

Gotcha,  yeah I paint all mine but I scored a legit tan NIB gen I that I may use for another build.

I apologize if me inquiring about keeping this thread relevant to its subject topic comes off as argumentative or confrontational.

I'm also all for confrontation outside of the Internet as well.

before you chop that thing...are you going for a .mil specific look or just to be within clone specs?  FYI the paramilitary group within a .gov agency has been purchasing and fielding that exact barrel in both block I and II configurations, along side HK416s, since 2009. (the employee gets the option between piston or DGI)...I dont know about the DODs barrels but some of their best people cross the road and carry that barrel (not to mention Black sopmods / black EXPS-3s )  all over the world wearing northface instead of AOR.  10.5 inch barrels are legit.

Yea. Besides, if you cut your 10.5 to 10.3 you're gonna lose like 3,000zorz fps, bro.
Dontcha know that's what all the 10.5 fans say.

Hey earlier today we saw a pic of a 10.5 in the wild so doesn't that make it "legit" huh huh...........I mean I just got another 10.3 but I really want two legit uppers...............hmmmm everyone's with me right

I've seen plenty of 10.5" government owned guns. So they're definitely legit as shit, I just don't know that they're technically considered mk 18's

Agreed, never seen Mk18 used officially outside the navy...but CQBR does appear throughout the groups training literature. (head of the M4 quall course is ex-Navy )

There aint nothin tough guy about it. Just be real. If you're gonna pretend you wanna step up it should be done in person, not behind a computer screen. If you don't want me to post in this thread that's too fuckin bad tho, I love the mark 18. It's one of my favorite weapons layouts known to man. therefore I will discuss the shit out of it in the mk 18 thread.

So one or both of us should book a flight or hop in a car to meet in person for this discussion?

I'm puzzled how exactly that was your initial reaction and response to someone inquiring about keeping this thread on topic.

Please do continue to post away in here. Enjoy yourself by all means. I'll for the first time look into how the filter works on this site. It's a bit time consuming to try and stay current on a thread that can grow 5 pages every day majorily dominated by irrelevant posts from someone who doesn't even personally own the weapon systems being discussed.

Not bad. Thats about the going price for a brand new LMT and yours is definitely fairly rare. In the year 2045 when our kids are making retro block II clones that stock will be worth a fortune lol

Hell yea
I think for me it's a combination of the nostalgia (if thats the right word) and just how fucking rugged/ old school FSB's are. I love the block II program just as much but If I had to pick one or the other, i'd have a rough fuckin time choosing.

One of my all time favorite CQBR photos, although this appears to be a cut carry handle and not an LMT.

They aren't as rare as you think. If you're basing fact soley by what you see in a pic thread on arcom then you will be mistaken. There are hundreds & hundreds more shooters, some with this stock but many without, out there with coyote tan SOPMODS that don't show up here.

Probably not the most difficult thing to find, but certainly not easy to come across in the gen I tan sopmods based on what I've seen.

I guess painting the black ones is the easiest method of making it any color other than black, which is what I was going for when I painted mine.

Hmmm,

Colt lower     $400 ish. Mine was from a 6920 I registered
Colt upper     $150
Colt BCG       from upper   $150
Colt Factory 10.3 barrel from SAW $530 delivered
Various Colt upper completion parts  $50 or so est.
Colt A1 grip     $5 bin at LGS
Colt H3 buffer  $40
Wilcox Aimpoint comp M mount   $100
Cut USGI carry handle   $25
Aimpoint PRO 2 moa  $ 325
Surefire 6P with Malkoff M61 upgrade/FM33  $120
Surefire M10 mount $30
KAC RAS  $ 100 with panels and grip
SWR Gen2 Specwar suppressor    $700 transferred/tax etc. ( Local class III)
Gen1 B5 Sopmod stock   $50
WWRGD sling retention band    $5
VCAS Sling   $50
CQD front mount $40

2X Tax stamps Form 1/Form4  $ 400

So $3220 give or take a few bucks. It can be done for less, I dropped alot of coin on that barrel and some small Colt parts in general. It runs fucking awesome though so it's all good.

Obviously I'm missing the KAC suppressor ( which I couldn't justify at this point in life ) and the PEQ 2 ( which is pointless at this point with the new civi LA5). And then there is the fun switch ( I'll address that later on right? ) :)

The gun is is based loosely on KD's 10.5 (10.3) Death Machine he posted a few years ago. Early Navy Specwar Mk18/CQBR etc. etc.

Gen. I taupe/tan SOPMODs are relatively rare on the commercial market, because IIRC, LMT only sold them for a year or two (don't quote me on the exact duration) before switching their commercial sales/production to the Gen. II or "Enhanced" SOPMOD.

Meanwhile, military contracts were and are still fulfilled with Gen. Is.

Nothing special about Gen 1 sopmods. LMT still sells them and always has. They are listed in my dealer catalog and I have ordered them as late as last month. Unless something has changed since then.

We are talking commonality of TAN gen 1 SOPMOD's in the marketplace. Not just any gen 1. When I was shopping for my SOPMOD I didn't come across a single
Taupe gen 1 LMT. so I ended up going with a B5

I have a DD mk18 upper with about 300 rounds through it. Looking to trade it for a m4a1 block ii upper. Also have a LMT 10.5 upper with surefire, wilcox mount and aimpoint pro (same housing as Comp M2 but with 2moa dot not 4) for sale.
