Trying to decide on the weapon light. I've had the insight with tape switch and Surefire M300V. Both were lacking in the lumen department. It won't be used with NVG and I'd like 300+ lumens on a light that has been seen in the wild. Any suggestions?

I'll take apart the gun and re-instal the govnah.  As this is my first time assembling an AR, these problems are all new to me.

Thanks again!

These are both excellent options.

I'm probably going to just put an X300U on my "modern" Block 1 upper, because I like it's size/output.

Your gas system is not working.

Is the BCG new? If so, take it apart and try to run a pipe cleaner or something through the gas key. If you cannot get anything through it, see below.

I once had an AIM BCG where the installed gas key had not been drilled out, like at all. Made for semi auto function very difficult. The bolt would barely move on a over gassed carbine system.

If you can get a pipe cleaner (or something similar) through it, check gas rings on bolt. If all checks out, work your way from the gas tube, to the port on the barrel.

While not clone correct, TLR's have been seen in the wild. They were under 120 at one time on Amazon. I have an HL  on my duty rifle and it works great for what i need.

Just put an HL Long gun kit on my "cqbr"

Didn't post it in here because of the poh-lease.

They re-vamped the plug in the back of the unit and the insight plug that used to work isnt long enough anymore. The interface is the same as the M3X long gun model, but they changed the plug and receptacle. This was the biggest issue I've had so far with it.
I'm debating on cutting and splicing my dual switch to make it work. Or if anyone here wants to undertake that job, let me know and I'll send the light and switch out to you for some mod.

Anyone running a compm4?  I saw a few pages back that they were used by some NG unit when their elcan got taken away, so they're somewhat kosher.

I tried two bolt carriers in it also.  My Spikes BCG is older with maybe 3K rounds and was cleaned and oiled.  I also tried my rainer arms match nickel boron BCG I had in a 18" upper I sold.  The Rainer Arms had only been shot a few times.  Both BCGs worked in my 16" BCM carbine right before I tried shooting my CQBR clone.  I spoke with Robert over at Micro MOA about the govnah I have no it so Im going to trouble shoot the gas block first.  Hopefully I won't need a new bolt.  Thanks for the heads up on your problem.  I'll make sure to keep it in mind if I continue to have more problems!

The M4 is in use as the M68 CCO, so they're around.

I don't remember the story behind this pic (MrFrZZ, here's your TLR1 too lol).

That was my picture from 20th SFGA.  The M68 (Comp2/Comp4) are big Army inventory so they are in the system.  Still no word from SOCOM/Crane on the SU-231 issue.

Roger that... I'll have to get a pic up... Its not the rocker switch model..... ANd I REALLY want to cut and splice it to work with the insight dual, but I dont have the jewels since its my only pressure switch available for the TLR1 HL.... Like I said, its a different plug from the other Streamlight models.( i have a TLR2 with a pressure pad on my wife's rifle)

Did you ever have any first hand experience with the issue? I only ask because I am wondering if its an across the board issue with their design or just a new issue with the SU231-A / EXPS series. I always enjoyed your insight to the thread!

He's already said no previously.

In fact, I've never seen anyone with any kind of proof. Some guy in GD said his uncle told him that six of his Eotechs were all off zero when he took them all out to shoot. But it was second hand info and sounded like BS to me.

I left mine out in 33f coming from 72f inside. No shift apparent whatsoever.

I think it's just confirmation bias. Now that the notice went out, suddenly people start to have the problem, yet zero reports before hand. Battery problems and delam problems, sure. But I've never seen a single report of zero loss before that notice went public.

^Yeah, reticle dimming was the only issue I ever had, and it was only with ONE EOTech. And EOTech fixed it immediately, for free and without question, even though my unit was out of warranty. Of course I had a very small sample size, so my experience isn't statistically important.

Good to hear, I always wondered if the people making these claims have zero knowledge of ballistics. if you zero in 100 degree weather and go shooting in -10 degree weather your zero is going to be way off because of the velocity drop from temperature. Are they saying if you zero in 100 degree weather then the sight goes in -10 degree weather then back to 100 the zero will be off in the same weather it was zeroed? Sorry to go off topic...

That was my picture from 20th SFGA.  The M68 (Comp2/Comp4) are big Army inventory so they are in the system.  Still no word from SOCOM/Crane on the SU-231 issue.

CD

Did you ever have any first hand experience with the issue? I only ask because I am wondering if its an across the board issue with their design or just a new issue with the SU231-A / EXPS series. I always enjoyed your insight to the thread!

No, never saw or heard of the shift before.  But again I only seen limited number compared to want Crane/SOCOM was tracking.

CD

Did you see any issues with the exps/231a's, i.e declamation, battery, etc.? I don't want to bog this thread down again about eotech but I'm curious now. I hope this hasn't already been asked.

I have one on mine. I like it, but I've been tempted to swap it for a t1 lately.

Looking to add an mrds to my Elcan, has anybody seen any FDE ones around or deals on a black one?

Stick with the XPS or hunt for a 552.  Just fucking around in the house it seems like putting a 552 or XPS on a LT110 would have retarded offset.  Thoughts?

I had a 512 on my old CASV-equipped 14.5 and got a good cowitness without a riser, IIRC. I would do the 552 but forgo the 110.

Started my first CQBR build today.  Going to be a budget rifle, got an anderson upper and lower, stoner barrel and cheap ebay handguard.  It won"t be nearly as nice as some of the ones you guys have, but its my first and it will be a blast.  Any advice for a CQBR virgin?

Well, it'll have to have page 1 stuff to be a CQBR, not just a 10.3" barrel.

I literally LOL'ed. I wanted a pair of gloves that had no fingers for dexterity. Then when I cut them, they started to fray. Started off as electrical tape, but that shit get's all gooey when it gets warm, so it ended up as duct tape. Still isn't the best. I've got two sets, so it's all good.

Yeah, they look pretty sweet. I was thinking about some aviator gloves a while back, but I didn't want to be that guy, lol. Next time I'm up for some gloves, I'll scoop some.

Hmm I think I fucked up selling my Colt M4A1 Carbine lower! I posted it for $650 and it sat on here two months before I sold it for like $550.00 shipped, started some of those 80% lowers but now  I just don't have the time. Went to buy another M4A1 lower and I can't seem to touch one for less than $1000.00 dollars.

For that price I might just go with a full Colt M4 Carbine OEM, take the lower and part the upper.

1.  The issue is reportedly that the unit would not return to zero even if returned to the temperature at which it was originally zeroed (so permanent shift).
2.  I have never heard of anyone experiencing the issue IRL.  Granted, we shoot (and re-zero if necessary) frequently but never IME by very much...one time it's a click or two in one direction, the next it's a click or two in what is just as likely to be the opposite direction.
3.  Our armorer section has yet to receive any official word of a problem.

I just got super lucky and snagged a Remington Defense R4... Know it's not clone specific, but figured it would be appreciated here. Gonna be a cool project.

Wow I paid $899 for a nib 6920 Socom rifle with the KAC rail a little over a year ago.

I wonder if they are done with those for good, or they will sneak them back into the lineup in a year or two.

Yup.  You'll end up replacing all the cheap stuff.  Save for the good stuff and do it right the first time.

Listen to these guys, probably spent an extra $400 just replacing shit I thought I'd be good with. Get the right stuff, or save up until you can.
