A member here posted his standard issue M4 equipped with an AAC can in one of the various pic threads on this site. From what I remember he was just regular Army infantry as well. I think if you look at enough pictures (which we all do) you're bound to see something a little out of the norm.

Edit: Found the picture and it was a Gemtech HALO.

Hard to see, but pretty sure this is a CQBR Block II with a Knights NT4 suppressor:

IMod!  I had no idea.  I love my IMods.  My B5s are great, too, but I totally missed this option in the other thread.

ETA, just noticed that is an Airsoft linked pic, so is the IMod kosher?

Another crappy cellphone pic. In the process of acquiring as many Gold parts as possible and scrubbing the color-fill off both sides of the receiver so it at least looks more .gov issued.

I'm really torn on which flash hider to go with - the more traditional old school KAC NT4 or the latest addition - the Surefire SOCOM...

Check out the second picture I posted halfway down page 3. Looks like a Vltor stock of some kind.

Edit: Two more pics on page 2 with EMOD's.

Good catch.

I won't lie when I say I bought this sling mostly for aesthetics, and by "mostly" I mean that's why I bought it hah.

Maybe one of these days I'll get to use the sling for something other than pictures...I hope.

I was talking about the sling - that I don't really have a real practical use for one because all of my shooting is typically from a bench.

I take it out sometimes just for pictures, but I remove it when I go shooting.

I actually really want the VIS model, but they seem kinda high priced for what it is.

There are a lot of dummy PEQs being used for pictures in the clone threads - it's just for shits and giggles...Always has been.

However, if they have no place here I certainly don't have a problem removing it.

Not enough orange on your rifle.

I think over the next couple of weeks, I'm going to try to update my Page 2 post, since this is going to be the new CQBR/MK 18 thread with some more history and specific information, and to answer some of the more commonly asked questions, so it'll be accessible pretty early on for new members.

Too bad I didn't get "in on one."

For starters I was going to wirte about the original CQBR program, the SOPMOD program, and the "spin off" of the MK 18 MOD 0.

I was also going to cover:

"What's a MK 18 MOD 1?" (nothing - doesn't exist)
"What's the difference between a MK 18 and a CQBR?"
"What about LMT uppers/barrels?"

Does anyone have any other suggestions for commonly asked questions - not necessarily "what is the correct part?" specific, but discussion questions?

It'll probably take me a while to get this all done, but hopefully it'll look something like the MEU(SOC) .45 thread going in the 1911 section when I'm done with it.  Maybe I'll try to extend the treatment in the future to the M4A1 and maybe the SPR, but this is all a long ways off... "IRL" sometimes has to take precedence.

Always love your rifles man!  I cant remember if you have the sdn6 or the m42k...If its the sdn-would you mind posting a pic of it on the MOD 0?  Im wondering if I should put a mount on my MOD 0 or just stick with mounting the can on the (Mod 1-CQBR?)  Im hoping to get the stamp next month so I want to be ready....
OH and DAMN all these pics Im seriously regretting not just getting the NT4 now.....Its been 10 months waiting on the sdn6, and I just started regretting my choice because of this new thread and all the pics!

Buy a new one. I just got the ball rolling on my Form 3 for the SOCOM. Plus eFile should have it back by end of summer, much quicker.

I'd be interested to find out more about the use of AAC cans in the wild on this platform.  Based on the above pic, it would appear that it was done at least once.  I've been pretty much a stickler about the right can for the right platform in these clone threads, as to me it seems to be an integral part of the "look" of the weapon.  I know the H&K 416 and SCAR were issued with an AAC can, but I'm not aware of any other platforms that used them.  As such, if AAC cans have been used, then which specific model was used?  Which branch used them?  I think a lot of people would like to know that their M4 2000 would be "clone approved" in these various threads.

Mines getting closer each day.  (wrong receiver and optic) Planning on fixing those after a Surefire 556RC

Thanks for starting the new thread!  Dont flame me too hard, I know it isnt 100% just yet but I'm actively working on making it so. (or at least as close as I can afford)  I'm not paying for full auto.

Love this little gun!

My wife would literally kill me.....were planning on a kitchen remodel....any extra cash has to go towards that right now  Soon though hopefully

All of my clones......
The MOD 0 lower is pending.
I'm considering stripping the M4 Block II and doing a Mk12 clone now.....Having the CQBR's pretty much makes the block II obsolete.....I think I'd rather have a bench/precision rifle.

I don't get how just because a dude started a thread he gets to shut it down 400 pages later.

It might be cool if you could address the fact that we are chasing a moving target with these weapons. You would certainly have better info than me, but there seems to be a standard set of kit combinations of which we see more often than others (e.g., SU-231, SU-233, LA-5, RIS II) while at the same time there are seemingly random combinations of parts from the SOPMOD kits (e.g., "increment" parts). Here is one of my favorites and a great example:

Would there be any other optic I could use on a MK18 Mod O other than a Comp M2?

I think we get a pass on the DBAL either way... It's in the same category as the lower receiver. We're restricted by law in this case.

There is a difference between the "Mk18" and the "CQBR," the former will always have a M68 CCO in a Wilcox mount with LMT rear sight (as is my understanding).

ETA: Here is the pic with a DBAL. AAC suppressors and DBALs would make for great GROM HK416 clones if only HK would make 416D uppers available, but that is not a discussion for this thread.
