Just got my upper back from ADCO a few minutes ago. I won an auction for an Aimpoint CompM2 yesterday. Once the optic is in, this build is done.

I'm glad I finally found a use for my fiberlite stock. My dad bought that for me from Specialized Armament Warehouse for $200 bucks when I was 10 years old during the dark days of the assault weapons ban, because I was too tiny to use the A2 stock on his preban Colt carbine.

ATV Looks like one the Gennie Beanies gave us to check posts with at Abad in ‘04. My rifle company did Cordons, patrols  and FOB security for the SOCOM types there and it was a big helpUntil one night a moron on COG filled it with Diesel and  it was gasoline or vice versa dont remember. I made him suck it all out himself witha length of cut garden hose, but it never ran right again.

someone's gotta teach you how to lash up that sling bro

1. pull the slide way up on the sling

2. sling through the outside of the top buttstock loop

3. through the bottom of the buttstock

4. into the sling slide, excess goes back through the slide

It's not a bad setup, except the weight up front feels strange when you're used to the optic over the receiver. I ran my a2 upper with an arms a2 plus mount that drops and extends over the handguard, and I ran my aimpoint there for a year till I disassembled it all. Having the optic that far away really opens up your view.

That second one with the qrp is amazing. Idk what it is but I love it!

Eta-Picked up a bayo. I've wanted an m7 to go with this and finally did it.

I've been seein more and more slings done up like that. More so with sopmods. I use both slots on a sopmod too. Not sure if it's right, but it seems more secure/robust than relying on the strength of a plastic slip.

I was taught to run the sling on the opposite side so you can switch to weak side with less risk of getting choked out by the sling.

The side makes sense, i was referring to how the sling is attatched to the stock. I've seen many different ways.  Some go all the way around the stock, as tweeter was referring to, and I've seen some how you have it where the slide is keeping it from pulling through the slot in the stock, and I've seen em slung through the bottom. Hell, there's really a million ways to do it.  I wasn't sure if there was a "correct" or taught way for the b5.

ive recently gone to slingin my b5 like this.

This is along the line of what tweeter was referring to with a car stock (I took of the  slide that catches the slack though):

I believe that one is a dual heat sheild. Just barely cleared. An xm skinny hg would be a perfect pairing. It actually fit with a Magpul. It slightly touched, but nothing was forced, or affected the other negatively. I think the xm' would look best since they are level. The m4 hg's have that taper.

It is Aimpoints series of mounts for the comp series/ 30mm tubes. Quick release picatinny mount. There are 3 versions that I know of. The one pictured I believe is the first gen. Same as couchcommando's. The gen 2 has the slanted base, and the 3rd has the spacers built into the base and a stubbier/ beefier tension knob.

All appear to be the kac r.a.s.. The ras can be used in conjunction with a socom barrel, but the kac ris can not unless modified.

I thought it was the other way around. The RIS can fit on any heavy barrel with a USGI handguard cap to clamp to,  but the RAS is designed to clamp to a specific barrel diameter. The RAS can be modified to work with heavier barrels though.

RAS works on SOCOM profile barrels. No experience with RIS.
I'm pretty confused as I've used both the M4 RAS and the M4 RIS on my SOCOM barrels. The RIS was on a BCM 14.5" SOCOM.

ETA even found the ad I purchased it in, as it was my first feedback lol

I was just referring to heavy barrels in general in my post. Should have clarified because I have a SOCOM barrel with a RAS. I just heard that a RIS can even fit on HBAR barrels but the RAS needs modifications.

You got it. I even have both, and know what the undersides look like, and still managed to mix it up. Thanks for catchin that.
and as milspec says, both should work on socom since the barrels are the same/close enough diameter at the fsb.

Here's my rifle. Started out as a 6920, but decided to do a Block 1.5 and changed out the barrel for a SOCOM 14.5." Pretty bare right now and I just got the Ergo extension today. Haven't painted it yet, because I'm not sure if I like it or not. As for plans, I'm looking to get a M952V or M600V and I have a T1 on my SR-15 which I may move to this if I get a LVPO for that.
