Took these pictures at Shot Show yesterday.  Colt's AR15A4 is a semi auto version of the M16A4.  The only other difference is that the AR15A4 will come with M4 feedramps (don't think anyone is complaining about that) and an ambi selector.  Otherwise it's a perfect clone of an M16A4, MARINES!!

Did they stamp each serial number separately, by hand, with a hammer and punch?

I think that is why this was their display model.....actually I should black that out.

I'd like to see a version of this similar to the LE6920 SOCOM I, with the KAC rail and Matech sight... But now that I think about it it is probably cheaper to just build one instead of buying it. At least with the increased price of the SOCOM you got the heavy barrel and the cool roll mark...

No regrets. You did the smart thing and got a great rifle. I've had 8 BMs over the last 20 years and NONE of them had any issues. Great Rifles!

Since the 6920 is marked "M4 Carbine" and the 6920 is marked "M4A1" the AR15A4 should be marked "M16A4"!

I think "M16" and it's derivative names are owned by Unvle Sam. "M4" isn't, it's public domain.

Hence, Colt does not own the rights to the name "M16."

Colt aquired the rights to AR-15 when they bought the design. The Armalite of today is a different company though, so it doesn't matter.

No one had close pics of the receiver markings, some thought Colt was going to use M16A4 like they did with M4A1 for the commercial market.

Colt had never made a flat top with a standard government profile barrel 20" before, they only have the HBAR heavy contour barrel model MT6700 Match Target Competition HBAR and they have no flash suppressor and no bayonet lug.

I had seen my local dealer's price list, also other online dealers and they're listed at $1,270 MRSP.

Guys in ban states that ban the AR-15 by name are going to be pissed.

what about those grey uppers with MMA forgecodes on the carry handle, supposed early 90s era, with A2 colt barrel. ?  are the uppers not Colt?

They were also neutered of bayonet lug. This is also marked AR-15 A-4. Reason alone to pick one up.

Try not too pay much over $100 for just the rails alone. Last like new set I bought was $75.00, with no cover's or KAC VG

I just bought a NIB colt 6720 and it is roll marked "AR15A4". It has a three digit serial number and has the restricted roll mark on the other side of the receiver. The factory Colt box did not have the colt label anywhere on it, just a tiny label with serial number on it.

by the time the Marines decided to buy A4s, FN had the contract.

The are some Army guns out there (as can be seen by the Army PT top in the photo).

I've already got an M16A4 clone built from all Colt parts - but who knows what could happen if I stumble across one at a good price?

Good to see this finally released, though!

Ha! Very true Augee.  Some would probably want the M4 feedramps gone.
But they are there, I popped the rear takedown pin and saw them myself.  The guys at Colt said that they already started shipping.
Not sure who those first batches are going to.

Colt had some of M16's mix, you are correct though that the majority were FN.

I don't doubt there are some Army A4s out there made by Colt, but by the time the Marine Corps decided to field A4 MWSs FN was the sole supplier, even some of our later production A2s were FNs.
