Bump.

Sorry, no pics.

Just took delivery of a complete SBR upper. Need to disassemble it for cerakoting by Pierce Eng. How far should I go in disassembly? I've never torn apart a forward assist, but it looks like a roll pin, no big deal. I'd like the port cover CK'd patriot brown. Anyone see a problem with that?

I bought brown and yellow Rit dye. Boiled a couple pints of water. Let it sit for 1 minute after boil. Put in about equal parts brown and yellow dye. Then dropped all mag parts in for no more than 10-15 seconds while pulling them to the surface every 3-4 seconds to check the match. It happens very quickly. The original mag was Magpul FDE

My latest build.  You may notice the brown handguard.  I'm debating as to what I should paint next or if I should just leave it as is.

Almost a copy of snowbalt's SBR on the previous page. Thanks snowbalt for sharing some info on that.

To be honest, I'm a little disappointed in the glossiness of the Patriot Brown finish. Was hoping it would turn out flatter. First world problems....it's still pretty sharp. Now if ATF would hurry up pushing my paper around, it would be all done.

The butt stock is from XLR Industries made for the AR15.Very solid unit all aluminum and totally adjustable. When I drop my cheek on that stock my eye is dead center to my sight, no need to move your head around trying to line up your eye to the sight, its automatically lined up.Excellent customer service and product is outstanding. I ordered the standard stock for the AR15 but then I exchanged the cheek piece to an extreme cheek piece for that little extra room from the standard model.

How about some 9mm 1911 in Patriot Brown?

Love this color - getting the color to show up correctly in photos is a little maddening
