Arres, as others have said duracoat does sell Daniel defense fde, I have done it to a few different firearms and other things. IMO it does look
Similar but definitely not an exact match. And lighting plays a bigger role with it than most colors, sometimes it looks like magpul's fde, sometimes looks like
It has green in it, and other times it looks patriot brown. And you definitely can't get an idea what it looks like from pics, and of course what ever you are applying it to will play a role in how it comes out, wether it be plastic, metal, wood, etc, speaking of wood, dd fde looks kinda green when on wood.

Thanks guys. It's my grab and go rifle. The pockets in the case cover have a 1/2 dz 30 rounders and a couple 20's. Think minute man concept.

I need to take a pic of it in the woods. She blends in nicely with the pine wooded forests of NH. I'll also have take a pic of my 300 BLK SBR now that's 100% (finally found an Aimpoint for it). It too is Patriot brown and OD green.

Specs:

Noveske Lower
Rainier FA-less upper
BCM Kino 11.5 bbl with Votex
PRI Gas buster CH
Magpul stuff
Aimpoint T-1 and LT-660
Surefire 200 Lumen light
Troy Flip-up rear.
LaRue MKI Covert case.
Gemtech 09 Halo.
RRA 2 stage trigger
KNS pins
YHM Extended take down pins.

Turns out, heat cure won't stand up to mag dumps from an M16. The customer had been told this.  He's bringing it back for high temp magpul fde.

How many different variations of tan do we really need in AR parts?

Desert tan, coyote, KAC taupe, flat dark earth, patriot brown....

It's starting to remind me of the business card scene in American Psycho.

Cerakote currently has 26 stock tans/browns with 2 more in development. They also do custom mixes.

Are most of you sending out your rifles to be Cerakoted? Or are you just doing it yourself? I am asking because I have done a lot with KG Gunkote through the years and I can't believe this would be any more difficult?

I do have a couple of questions -

1.Most of what I have coated has been steel. With the anodizing on aluminum, is there a different process to make sure the material is adhering?
2.What are you using for blasting material?
3. What type of ovens are you using? Any suggestions?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

number 1 is a big debate , the manufacturer says to blast the anno off but alot of people apply it on top of the anno.
i used 120 grit alum oxide , harbor freight has good sales on this all the time.
i made my own curing oven with a hot plate and ducting , about $25 in materials.

the only issue for me was applying the cerakote too thick

Any pistols (Glock, maybe) with just the slide done in Patriot Brown?

There's a guy on FB who I follow and he has a special on slide cerakoting, $60 including return shipping. I'm sending one to him for a different color, I was indifferent on Brown until I saw this thread, now its got me thinking my G30S might not look too bad in Patriot Brown.

I've always liked this rifle from the first time I saw it. I'm so temped to do this with my 14.5 mid that I have that is all black. I hope you don't mind if I end up doing it and posting it in the future. I love the patriot brown color. Got to do one some way
