Looking to finish up a new build and deciding to go with the 16" midlength.

I have a 14.7 carbine and 16" carbine so its natural for me to get a midlength now.

Looking for first experience from users.

I'm looking into the BCM 16" midlength for 439$ and the PSA CHF for 399$.

Is it worth the extra 40$ for the BCM? I'm swaying this way because of 'filthy 14' and the name.

I have a PSA 14.7 CHF though so it makes me want to lean that way as well. Their CS has always taken care of me and the wait isn't a huge deal to me.

I just need help deciding. The cost isn't isn't a huge deal for me. Either way it will be a basic no thrills KISS carry handle/a2 stock midlength.

Which way should I go, and why?

I have bought PSA parts and have an M4 shipping this week. That said, I'd spend the extra $ on BCM. Paul and company are really good guys and they have always been very good CS. All things equal, BCM will hold value better. PSA is an up and commer but BCM is highly respected and proven gear.

ETA- re-read and now see PSA is CHF.  That makes it tougher. I might lead towards PSA.

I have a PSA mid-length with the lightweight CHF barrel. It rocks! I sold my BCM carbine upper to fund the PSA upper and haven't looked back. With that said, the BCM was a great upper and flawless. I say get the PSA and spend the difference on mags, ammo, training, optics, etc.

Same upper.  Very accurate.  It shoots Federal Fusion like a champ.  And everything else pretty well also.

I've never had the pleasure of shooting a PSA rifle but my BCM middy is a freaking tac driver.

I recently purchased a BCM 16" mid-length and absolutely love it. Incredibly accurate with bulk Federal 55gr. I would purchase another in a heart beat.

I havent shot either one but I have a PSA 16 inch Mid Length CHF on the way as we speak. I didnt go with BCM just because I like the CHF idea. Nothing to do with money.

I had to make the same decision and I ended up going with BCM.  It is a beast and I love it but I'm sure I would have been just as happy with the PSA.  One of the main things that sold me on the BCM was the wait time.  If you order from PSA it's gonna take atleast two weeks to get to you, whereas I had my BCM upper three days after I ordered it.  I'd say it's a win/win either way you go, though

I have a PSA lower under a BCM 16" middy upper.  Both halves are wonderful.

I've had a BCM CHF Midlength for 2 years and its been flawless for 1000 rounds
PSA seems to make good quality uppers and their barrels are made by FN and they do the same parts  testing as BCM(HP, MPI)
My next upper will be a BCM or PSA depending on availability

If you already have a PSA 14.7", I'd say go BCM 16" if for no other reason than to say you "got both"

I have a PSA semi LW  and a BCM standard 16" middy. The PSA has worked well and my BCM is one of my favorites. I had a similar decision to make last month wne adding a pencil barrel LW middy to the collection. I went with the BCM based on much faster shipping times. Arrived 3 days after I ordered it.

Just built a 16" middy with one of PSA's FN pencil barrels.  The thing is a Frankengun, with parts from all over the place, but the PSA barrel is one of the best I've ever shot.

My work gun is a 14.5" BCM middy, which I absolutely love, but given current pricing, I would go with the PSA in a heartbeat.

You get a cool hat, catalog, stickers and mouse pad with the BCM........

Or that's what they use to do anyway.

Another vote for BCM. My BCM 16" mid has done more than I could ask from it. I have two more stripped lowers on the way and I may put a PSA upper on one. But I agree, BCM has a proven track record.

I think I'm going to get the BCM. Order tomorrow and get it by wednesday. im going to my farm friday and ill put it through its paces and zero it. then, saturday itll climb a deer stand with me

PSA has been good to be but a recent thread that was started today on top of the long shipping times has me going this route. plus, i dont have a BCM and would like to see what they're all about.

thanks for the input and feel free to add more if you have anything to say.

BCM is the way to go.  they have better customer service, better quality, and they stand behind their products.  I've never had a problem with them and feel that if i did they would fix it right away.

BCM all day every day.  I have owned both. The fit/finish and most of all CUSTOMER SERVICE is way better with BCM.  Though you'll be pressed to get either on the phone.

Either choice is good and will serve you fine. Both use quality materials for parts built to the proper specs. I fail to see how one is "better" than the other because on paper they are basically the same. Only difference is the logo. That said I have a preference to FN CHF barrels. I doubt you'll break either one so buy whichever gets you more trigger time because thats whats gonna make the real difference.

BMC all the way. Flawless and looks good, also shipping time was incredible (2 days from order to brown truck man).

Originally I would have said PSA, but the way the 5.45 upper thing is shaking out isn't looking too promising. Delayed shipping I don't think is that big a deal.

I have a PSA CHF 16" lightweight middy. Took over a month to receive it. Would've been longer if I hadn't notified them, because the order had been lost or something. The rifle is fantastic, but I'd pay the extra $40 for the BCM customer service/prompt shipping if both uppers are essentially the same.

My vote is for BCM not only is the quality top notch, but they actually ship stuff soon after you order it. I am only two states away from BCM so I ordered my upper on Saturday, and had it at my door Wednesday. Nothing wrong with PSA but when they say it make take 15 days to ship that's what them mean. I bought some parts from them, and it took them 15 business days just to ship the damn parts then another week for UPS to deliver them. I would have gladly paid the extra $40 to have my stuff in less than week. The only thing PSA has IMO is they are cheap, so if you get a great deal go for it. but a mediocre deal I would rather have a BCM.

If you have to have it in three days get the BCM. If you can wait a few weeks get the PSA for less.

I have 3 from each. All 6 are great. Both flavors have performed identically. $40 is nothing. I'd go with the BCM simply because you don't have one yet, and like was said you will get it very quickly.

I have a BCM 16" Mid-Length setting on a Spike's Lower.  I have the 9" Troy drop in quad rails and a GearSector handstop.  I keep toying with the idea of getting a BCM light weight upper and running the Magpul MOE handguard to build a lightweight rifle.

I've been very happy with my BCM midlength.  If I was going to change anything about my current setup, it would be to order a BCM lower replace the Spikes just to have a matching setup.

How is the balance on it with just the Magpul handguard?  I had considered  a similar setup with one of these Ace Skeleton stocks to cut down on weight, but worry that it might unbalance the gun.
