Should I be reflecting light instead of being right under it?

I'm no pro but to me, your backgrounds seem to have a yellow tint or your shots are a little '"warm". I would try lighting that was a little more soft and didn't cast a yellow hue.

IMHO the color looks like a nice quality shot, but the black and white look much better as its a much harder style.
