I have the Troy 13.8 inch TRX extreme on my AR and I'm looking at swapping it out for a quad rail. I was looking into the 13.8" Troy MRF-RX rail. Will these rails just swap over with the same mounting hardware? Or will I have to swap the barrel nut? If it is not a direct swap does Troy make any quad rails that are around 13.8" in length that use the same mounting hardware as the TRX extreme?

Troy MRF series uses GI barrel nut. And it's heavy as all get out. I have the 12" and it weighs 21 ounces.

Solid as rock though.

I have 2 of the the original TRX extreme (with the proprietary barrel nut) 13" rail on a 16" middy carbine and I have no trouble.

I have read many threads about people having trouble with the clamping mechanism stripping out or whatever problems, but mine have been fine.

I have often wondered if I should be trying to make them fail so Troy would issue me a replacement. I can't bring myself to do it.
