there's a thread on flat dark earth, and a thread on foliage and olive. can we get a thread started on burnt bronze?

there seems to be an endless variation in color depending on available light and camera settings.
if you've shot more than one material it'd be good to see how it turned out as well.
any burnt bronze color combo's are welcome too, i've heard of adding in a bit of black for a darker look.

mods - if this needs to be moved to refinishing fine, but i thought posting here would get more attention since this is where i've seen the majority of burnt bronze pictures in various threads.

c'mon let's see 'em!!

I love this color... which is why I was ecstatic when I was able to get my hands on a lone ST Brown Recluse lower to pair with my ST 14.5+ Dynacomp.

I got bit by a Brown Recluse this past weekend. Now my leg is on fire and I have a big old swelled up ball of red infection the size of a silver dollar. Sucks!

Sweet rifle by the way. I'm really diggin' the bronze.

So who does quality Cerakote applications? I have a stripped lower I would like to try this on?  I live in an appt and don't have access to the neccessary equipment so I would have to pay somebody to do this.  Also any chance this can be done to a complete upper reciever (Just the outside) without having to remove rails and barrels?

Theirs several reputable companies that apply Cerakote. I would Google it and check out a few different companies ... their work, reputation, etc. I use JFE / WW Guns for all my refinishing needs. They've always done  great work with fast turn around times.

A complete upper needs to be stripped so everything can be blasted and all oils removed for proper Cerakote application.

No personal experience with these guys but everyone that has had their gun coated here seems to love them.  Also did Costa's rifles iirc if you care about that sort of sillyness.

Here is the anodized version of Burnt Bronze, or the actual color that Burnt Bronze was "supposedly" based on.........

Did you happen to media blast as well? I've got some quotes to do my Glock and, while the price is reasonable, for the same price I could but the stuff myself and do the glock and my shotty. I've done Duracoat before without sand or media blasting but i've unfamiliar with Cerakote.

I did per their instructions. I believe the recommend 100 grit garnet sand.

Thanks for the reply. I dont have access to a sand blaster, I wonder if using some fine sandpaper to scuff the surface would be fine.........

The scratches will show. Just go to a local machine or autobody shop. I'm sure you could get some one to do it for next to nothing.

anybody know what happens if you cerakote over a flag etching like the Spikes lowers?

will you still be able to see the flag at all or will it be gone?

what about if you cerakote over SBR engravings?

Cerakote is very thin and will not fill in engraving unless you apply way to much.
