I think its more then that. I been building ARs for a while never as much BO even obscure companys out of bolts, lower parts set, barrels and even off brand uppers and lowers out. There is more to story the Tax returns. Usually when this happens its followed by big price changes.

I think more people then myself believe there will be riots in every major city after elections. I think the series Dooms Day Preppers woke a lot of people up! I was getting ready to start a new build & was shocked the lack of build parts to be found. Lets say its beyond bare! Since Homeland Security had contracted for millions of ammo rounds you have to believe there is more to this story.

 I sure hope not.....

Lot's of people getting into the AR game.  I've never seen so many showing up at the range.  I'm not sure if it's over fear of total economic collapse, ban fear, or just because they're fun.  I know I added 3 AR's to the safe this year.  It just happened that I was intro'd to them and hooked by them.  My friends have followed suit.  I have 4 friends that have built/bought AR's since they shot mine.

I'm hoping that it's just a trend.  I know gun sales are up a ton.  I'm hoping it's just because people are enjoying shooting.  With any luck the builders will up their capacity.

There is a guy that upgrades ARs at the local gun show.
He replaces triggers, tunes the gas system removes the A2 and replaces it with a pic gas block, adds Magpul stocks, grips etc etc etc

He can not get parts.

He usually orders about $10,000.00 worth from Magpul but can not get anything. Bigger builders are buying everything in advance.
He said he may stop doing gun shows because there are no parts for him to offer.

Like ammo, this has started at the distributor level and those of us paying attention jumped in fast to get ahead of the stampeding herd that will grow as we near the election

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and its Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office is getting an "indefinite delivery" of an "indefinite quantity" of .40 caliber ammunition from defense contractor ATK.

U.S. agents will receive a maximum of 450 million rounds over five years, according to a press release on the deal.

The high performance HST bullets are designed for law enforcement and ATK says they offer "optimum penetration for terminal performance."

This refers to the the bullet's hollow-point tip that passes through barriers and expands for a bigger impact without the rest of the bullet getting warped out of shape: "this bullet holds its jacket in the toughest conditions."

Guys you realilze that this translates to about 450 rds per employee/year of DHS right?

Now that takes into account that there are 200,000 employees, not all are necessarily armed. However if you consider new agents/officers, requalifications, add on training, etc etc...that isn't much in the long run.

If martial law is declared they know ammo will dry up fast. They know they will have to supply most police depts with ammo. Most carried side arm is 40 cal. In riots it would also be used (40 cal hollow points) man stoppers. Lets say they know alert levels will be up. A light should be going off.

That's too logical......Socialist Storm Troopers taking our guns and murdering citizens sounds more likely.

bring on the riots give me a reason to justify my hobby besides zombies...

Ammo is a huge thing right now it is almost impossible to find M855 and if you do places want 10-12 bucks a pop.

I went to spikes tactical today and they are 1700 orders behind, lots of complete lowers on the wall but no barrels or uppers to go with them. No LPKs no nothing. Best thing I can suggest is if you are planning a build find a place like ranier arms or aim and if some thing is out of stock put your self on the email me when it is in list

Well I'm glad I saw this thread (I think). I thought it was just me, but it has been very hard to find things you need in the EE lately. Just a short time ago you could check for a few days and find what you needed. It seems things are not as available now as they were just a very short time ago....<><....:)

I'm really tired of all the complaining about parts availability. This is a technical forum, so please repost these threads in GD.
