Their theory was that, when they were "kicking down doors" they would go in ghetto style with their rifles tilted to the side. Haven't seen that config since, lol. |

I wore Hatch on my first deployment, Nomex on my second, and either Hatch or some issue motorsport type glove that we got at Luke AFB from main supply stateside. As I understood it, the gloves were being issued to the flight line troops. Working on metal parts like those that make up 98% of the F-16 in the Arizona sun tends to burn the shit out of bare hands. Somebody in my unit decided that Security Forces troops probably had occasion to grab hot items like door handles, steering wheels, vehicle bodies, etc during the performance of our duties and thought it would be a nice idea to give us the same gloves. They worked fine, but they did not last more than 6 months or so with daily wear. Gloves, of any kind, are essential in hot weather climates as metal gets grill- a-steak hot. Most troops I saw used whatever they could get.

My "standard" may or may not have been a left sage green size 8 Nomex aviator glove with the cuff rolled once over itself 90% of the time....

I've seen this. Somewhere I've got a picture of the aftermath of some genius deciding to put a bunch of M9's in an MRE box. |

Does anyone have pictures of the mag well markings (the right side)? Is that a 2-D barcode I'm seeing?

This is a mock up of the most common (Army) IUID format - it's not a QR code, it's a Data Matrix, similar but not identical. There are actually several different forms of IUIDs used on the M4 and M4A1 Carbines. The first line: (17V) 13629 is the CAGE code for Colt Defense. (1P) 12972700 is the part number for the M4A1 Carbine (RO921HB). The part number for the M4 Carbine (RO920) is 9390000. The "(S)" block is for the serial number. ~Augee |
