The only place where there's a link to you, and that serial number, is in the "bound book" in your FFL. There's no "public tracing" going on, with weapon serial numbers. Unpossible.

IIRC, there was a member here that had a photo "stolen" from the net and used in an ad on a gun auction. |

Good find op OP should take it off safe, and see if the trigger guard can be swung out with that lock on! |

I'd argue that posting with serial number exposed would create place #2 "where there's a link to you, and that serial number". obscuring the serial number keeps the number places that link him to that serial number down to 1... the FFL book entry |

In reality, the only time it'll cause you any trouble is if it's an illegal firearm. If somebody tries to report your gun stolen, and it comes back registered to you & in your possesion; guess who's going to jail. Not you. People over react a bit when it comes to serial numbers, they forget about every other way that a criminal can use other numbers against them. |

Nice gun, good decision. Good for Wal Mart, too. I would not be surprised if they can't keep them on the shelf.

Nice! Ours had the Sigs in stock but no Colts.
Looks like wall mart is finally coming to their senses. They stopped selling everything except muzzle loaders here in Idaho after the Columbine Mass. and Michael Moore's documentary blaming guns as the bad guy. Walmart and Kmart both rushed to get all their firearms off the shelves. |

He was nice, showed interest in learning as the assistant manager helped him through the process. He forgot to take the store's lock off which is no big deal. I unscrewed it but I could have also dropped the trigger guard. |
