I found a detachable carry handle assembly for a flat top AR 15. The guy that is selling it claims that it is made by Colt. Can you guys please help me to identify it ? The only marks I can find on it is two letters in the casting. They read "A B". The letter "A" is a rather strange looking letter, hard to describe into words. From my description, is this carry handle a Colt manufactured part ?  Thanks.

Is it a splintered A could be alcoa forge the B im not sure but if the rear sight is bottomed out and is level with the top of the handle its a mil-spec height carry handle. Also the A could be ancorharvey forge. In any event mil-spec or commercial height its a quality handle and ive seen AB marked handles on Colt 6920s.

Thanks for the replies. I forgot to mention that the forging flashing on the bottom of the carry handle is very rough and rather sharp. The seller also claimed that the carry handle came off of a Colt model 6920. Sounds like it is a genuine Colt part. If anybody out there has a Colt model 6920, please look at the casting marks (letters) and tell me what they are on your rifle.  Thanks again.

I have a Colt detachable carry handle marked with splintered A and letter B to the right of it, it came with a complete Colt 6721 (HBAR 16" carbine) upper half that I bought in 2005.

My carry handle also have a rough and sharp forge flashing on the finger cutout, when I look under the rear sight aperture flat spring mine is marked with a letter "H", should be marked with "C" or some are not marked at all, my own conclusion is that my carry handle was not an original Colt.

The latest Colt detachable carry handle I got last year with my SP6920 and also my 6721 bought two years ago both had a square forge markings which means they're forged by Brass Aluminum Forging Enterprises, both have very clean smooth forge flashing on the cutouts.

I know my last two carry handles are original because I broke the factory box seals at my dealer when I picked them up.
