Can anyone tell me what company's manufacture Mil-Spec ARs
I'm looking for a good quality AR for a friend who has cancer he doesn't have much funds so I thought I would help out a little.
It must be Mil-Spec and as low in price as possible.
Thanks in advance

COLT http://www.coltsmfg.com/Catalog/ColtRifles.aspx
BCM http://www.bravocompanymfg.com/
Daniel Defense https://danieldefense.com/

These are the top three that will be as close, spec wise, as you can get. The other brands are close and look the part but are not.

Most of the above can be had from $900-$1200 if you shop around.

PSA is also  a very nice option and will not brake the bank.

Start here: http://www.ar15.com/content/page.html?id=493  It's a good read and you'll increase your knowledge base on the AR platform immediately...

You'll have a great many personal opinions on this topic of 'milspec' AR's, my opinion is this:

Colt, Noveske, LMT... with the Colt 6920 being the best 'spec' AR you can get in the 1k price range... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBj0tesg3SY&feature=player_embedded

NOBODY

There is no Mil-Spec for an AR-15.

If you think 'Mil-Spec' means will interchange with 'standard' parts well just about ALL ARs currently produced will do that (with some exceptions of some parts on older Colts)

Now some AR makers follow Colt's M4 TDP (Technical Data Package) better than others.  They usually follow the Mil-specs for many of the materials and finishes (but NOBODY makes a complete 'Mil-Spec' rifle).

Brands like Colt, BCM, DD, LMT are known to follow the TDP fairly well (not perfectly, but fairly well).

what about Tier-1 Mil-Spec?

The Colt 6920 is as close as you can get to mil-spec in my book ,except for not being select fire, and not having a 14.5" barrel, what else is it missing ?
Same go's for DD ,BCM,Spikes, and a few others. They are HPT-MPI BOLT AND BARREL CHROME LINED 1/7 BARREL,FORGED ALUMINUM UPPER AND LOWERS.
The only way to get Mil-Spec is join the Mil.

For what your looking for OP the rifles listed and a few more meet the needs of us non Military guys for defense ,range shooting ,hunting and so on just fine.
And for 99% of the guys and girls on this site that shoot AR's.
