I dont treat my painted rifle very nice, but I did such a good rattle can job, it wont really wear off 1 coat of 3 colors, after degreasing the rifle=very solid paint job. For the future I learned if I want that weathered, beat look quickly, do not clean the rifle before painting it |

Alright I have a question for you gents. I need some optics for my clone rifle but I can't decide what to get. Ive narrowed it down to the age old eotech vs aim point. Specifically t-1 micro vs exps3-0. I know the eotech is more clone kosher but I am worried about it being too wide and bulky. Ive never used either sight. What are y'alls thoughts?

View Quote Having owned both I can tell you which one I still own and which one I do not own any longer. I still have the T1. If you asked me which one I prefered I'd say the Exps3-0 in terms of actually using it - the bigger window and the reticle are nice. However, the battery life, the durability, and the practicality paired with my own money being invested led me to keep the T1. In terms of clone correct - if that's what you want then go with an EO as it is much more common than a T1. Having used the T1 for awhile and shooting a few carbine matches with it I really like how quickly and easily it is to change the brightness with the rheostat as opposed to hitting buttons multiple times for up and down as well. If I could build the perfect red-dot/holo it would be an Eotech reticle and window paired with 50,000 hour battery life, always on, and a rheostat to crank the brightness up and down. My final closing thoughts are this: The T1 is 'there'. It is what it should be in terms of battery life, durability, and usability. I could use a T1 for the next decade and I wouldn't assume that there would be any major changes in the platform. On the other hand what gets me excited about Eotech's is that they are not the perfect platform and I await to see some significant improvements over the next decade. The platform can benefit greatly from increase of technology.. more efficient electronics and better batteries. I'd say own a T1 now, and keep an eye on how EO's progress in the future. |

WRT aimpoint T1 vs Eotech XPS, both are "clone appropriate". As a matter of fact, I still have the original SU 231 on my work gun. We also have a couple of T-1's that have found their way to BLOCK II's. Jus my observations though.

Are government profile barrels considered appropriate for Block II? Had they all been replaced with SOCOM barrels pre-SOPMOD II or is the SOCOM profile part of the spec?

Looking at my Block II from the top down the EXPS is roughly the same width as the rail, maybe a tiny bit slimmer. I've also owned the T1 as well and I really don't think you can go wrong with either. I personally prefer the look of the EXPS3 on the Block II myself.
