Replacing shot out barrels.

Also figure out how you're going to support the FSB/rail when you have to restake the taper pins back in while inside the rail.

I remember the first time I tried to knock the FSB pins out on a barrel back in the day. At the time I didn't know they were tapered

Yeah that was a pain. Especially with the LMT upper. That front sight didn’t want to move once the pins were removed.

@Combat_Diver it seems like every time you've posted a KAC 600m rear sight it's been attached to a non-FSP RIS II URG. Whereas for the FSP RIS II, if it gets a rear sight at all, it's exclusively MaTech.

I understand the FSP URGs are more likely to have been "born" with (or inherited) the MaTech, while the non-FSPs are often negated a rear BUIS altogether. I'm just wondering if you recall ever installing the KAC 600m rear sight on any FSP uppers given that you've previously said end users would sometimes receive the option.

For my part, the only KAC BUIS I've ever seen on a FSP RIS II was a 300m.

This is the gen iii 1-10.

That being said, the part numbers for the 1-6 gen ii are VRR024-FCR and UAR016-FCR if that helps.

I could be wrong but isn’t that a Mk18, not a M4A1 Block 2?

Those are Rangers, so it's a M4A1 CQBR w/ BLOCK II kit. Navy uses the mk18 mod 1 .

It's really a common assumption that is completely understandable. I was just being a smart-aleck.

The clone threads are arguably setup improperly. They are based off barrel length and not based off of Sopmod kits. But we are over a decade deep now and there is no going back now

No worries. Didn’t think you were being a smart ass. I’m so used to every 10.3” being called a Mk18, I kinda forgot that in the army side at least, they get issued two uppers and a lower, and the accessories really are what determine CQBR vs Mk18 Mod 1.

Maybe after I finish my Holland, I’ll hurt my own feelings and go down another clone rabbit hole.

Another assumption incorrect.  SF they have 3 uppers and one lower.  Standard M4A1 14.5" Mother Army upper, 14.5" URG/URGI and 10.3"/11.5" URG/URGI.  Navy remarks and only keeps one upper per lower hence they do remark lowers for property book reasons.

Oh ok. I figured at this point, they’re getting one or the other in regards to the 14.5”. What’s the reasoning behind issuing both 14.5”s?

Standard M4 belongs to mother Army and when gun gets turned in, that upper goes back on.  Other uppers are just wearable components.  M4A1 is a TO&E item.  Now the ODA may NOT have them but either at BN or GP, tucked away.

Makes sense. For some reason, when you said 3 uppers, I was thinking Block 2 upper, URGI 14.5 and URGI 11.5”, not sure why I thought that.
