Thank you! I think once I get the non fsp built that'll be the new home for the elcan. I just can't decide what optic I want on the fsp rifle. Before the elcan it had a ta01nsn, but that's a bit old school for block ll I think.

For my non fsp upper is a socom profile barrel correct or just a standard profile? I've seen people use both.

Standard profile is correct for a non FSP rail. The FSB is removed and the bottom is dimpled for the gas block set screws.

That rifle looks great.

I have yet to perfect the sponge technique.

One of the guys mixed up some touchup paint the other day and was actually sponging it on; I tried dabbing some on my hat but it came out too uniform even though I was trying to use different parts of the sponge.

For those of your with Block 2's what is more popular, the FSB variety, or non-FSB?  I am building a non-FSB.  Is one RIS harder to find than the other?

I'd say the non FSP is probably more commonly issued and is also more popular commercially. The non FSP rails also have higher demand so they will most likely be more expensive. The FSB kind of gets in the way of hand an accessory placement and gets hot while firing. The non FSP requires a $60 gas block and a $200 front sight. I personally like both for different purposes. I prefer FSBs for red dots and flip up sights for magnified optics.

Thanks .

I get what you're saying about the pattern being to uniform. I started throwing in some smears with the sponge to try and help break it up better.

Had one of those for a while. The permanent 1913 rail molded into the rail system under the gas block drove me nuts. Not a bad solution if you just want to cut your delta ring off and slap an extended rail system on though.

Ah yup, from one of my favorite photosets. VTAC handguard and long before Keymod/M-Lok. Seeing handguards *like* this was really common during the "Block 1.5 PR" era where operators or units would replace their RAS short carbine rails with longer handguards but still drop-in ones that retained the delta ring and didn't require a full breakdown/armorer to replace.

One of my favorite series cause I think they look sick, especially w/ the Gen 2 ELCANs. If you look closely, the guy shooting prone has taken his MRDS off the ELCAN and mounted it offset. He's also use an FDE VTAC rail.

(high-res if you want to save and zoom in)

My humble contribution. Not an exact Block 2 clone but that was the theme and the goal and it fits me well in this configuration. Factory DD M4A1 upper, Aimpoint micro in a LaRue with Diamond Head buis, Gear Sector hand stop with some magpul bits behind it. Surefire X300 where my thumb rests, blueforce sling in a MI QD mount on the rail and a B5 sopmod on a Noveske mil-spec lower.

So, Im getting ready to order a Vortex Razor 1-6x24 for a block II URG im working on;  I can't decide between VR-2 (MOA) and "JM-1" BDC reticle.  Ive always shot MOA scopes but the simplicity of the JM has me intrigued.  Does anyone have any first hand experience  with a Razor 1-6x24 on Block II URG?  Any input would be greatly appreciated.

These guys get a decent paycheck, I dont get why people think everything is issued. Half the guys are gun nuts as well, so whenever there is an odd ball piece of kit or gear it was probably personally bought or procured. I know you are being sarcastic about the rolex but there is numerous other examples
