In reality, if you screw the barrel nut hand tight, and then use the wrench to align to the first or second hole thay aligns, you'll be within torque spec.

That's the method I use.

Set the wrench to 80 ft lbs and line up a hole.

I have literally never used a torque wrench.

If you used the same amount of force it took to push out an MRE turd you're at about 65lb.  No need for torque wrenches, you'll know if it's too loose.

When people want to know where they could save money on an mk12 build the gas block, bcg, and stripped upper are the places to do it.  Especially if your going to rattle can it

They're quite a bit different. The repros aren't rounded on the edges,  the paddles are thicker, and overall quality is crude by comparison. That said,  they do work just as well.

So I received the glass for my M24 build today, and wanted to do a "In memory of Sgt. Miller mock-up" minus the recce rail before leaving for work. Brand new 10X with all accessories and mk4 rings for $795. The clone gods shined down upon me." />

Productive day today, but came up with a few questions that I'm hoping the mk12 Goods can help me with.

Mounted my barrel, PPRI handgaurd, FSB with site and the gas tube today. This was my first build so please go easy on me. Went together okay enough, although it took some time to get the gas tube mounted properly.

How can I ensure the gas block is above the port in the barrel?  I kept it centered as best I could, and it sits right on the step in the barrel,  so I'm guessing it is okay, but unsure.

When I finished mounting it all,  I through the BCG and CH from my M4 in to check function. It seems to not want to go into battery all the time. Didn't know if this was because it was (remotely) dry, and new,  or if I may have done something wrong?

How important is it to head space these? I don't have a bolt yet,  but after the problems above I'm thinking it will be in my best interest. Unless I'm missing something.

I can't wait until this is all together and shooting. I'm so close, but need to recoup finds after the recent purchases.

Could be gas tube is misaligned. Causing the gas key to hit it and not go into battery.

If it's hitting the gas tube, you should hear a metal on metal sound. You should be able to visible see how much is hitting the gas tube. I assume you do not have the bolt cam in place if you do not have a bolt installed
