Long time lurker here looking to build my first dissy. Pretty much read through half of this thread.

Is there any way i can build a dissy with a BA hanson barrel?
http://ballisticadvantage.com/16-inch-556-hanson-mid-cmv-performance-barrel.html

I know armalights clamp on FSB is discontinued. I was considering the DEZ clamp on FSB but it doesnt look to be as adjustable
http://shop.deztacticalarms.com/A2-Fixed-Front-Sight-Clamp-on-625-w-Bayonet-Lug-DEZ-1035-625-GB.htm

Are there any midweight barrels that can be used for a dissy?

Unless Del-Ton has changed something recently, that will have a rifle length gas system.

Giggity. That will work. When I had my A2 dissy, I had Adco build the upper like that. Looks like I'm spending money at Del-Ton.

Does it make a difference, as in make it more wieldy? I ask because I have a rail similar to that one you have there and I have contemplated getting a Faxon .625 barrel to replace my cheapie 16" M4 profile barrel that I think it shot out.

Originally I was going to get a 18" or 20" pencil barrel but that one you have there is making me think about a configuration like that.

With that rail, it handles just like the one with the MOE handguard. It's surprised me at how light it was when I got it back.

If you're wanting a Dissy, there is only one length that is correct.

0.110" is generally considered the proper port size.

Some have issues in cold weather/low powered ammo.

I've found the rifle buffer system works best. Utilizing the carbine buffer system may require some tuning.

Any buttstock suggestions for balancing out a 16"  Faxon GUNNER barrel with KAC M5 RAS? I got a deal at a local shop on a complete RAS kit in the box that I couldn't pass up....There's a B5 Bravo on there now, but been considering an A1 stock to help balance it better (weight and looks). Might even slap on some Triangle handguards I have laying around....A flat top A1 style dissy would be awesome.

SOPMOD is pretty heavy and will help balance it out. Plus, it's the best looking stock ever.

I have 2 del-ton dissy builds. One has a clamp on FSB and one came with pinned FSB. both run great with decent ammo but neither will cycle steel. Pulling one apart for some upgrades and I checked the gas port and it looks like 3/32 (.0947) so I assume both of them are the same. These were bought about 3 years ago.

I love the way the gun feels as is, but I'd like it to be able to run steel just in case. Wondering if opening it up to 7/64 will loose some of that smoothness. Opinions?

my dissy is a delton with pinned fsb and mine wouldn't cycle steel reliably so I opened up the gas port. I don't remember what it was or what I opened it up to, it may have been 7/64, but it did increase the felt recoil somewhat.

Only reason I'm hesitant is because I have some work into this barrel and don't want to screw it up. It shoots great for what it costs and I had it machined down to .625 behind the gas block so its pretty light. YOLO I guess lol.
