Does anyone know why Colt still stamps the ban-era "Restricted: LE/Gov't Only" warning on its 6920 receivers?

Made during the ban.

Nah, Colt still stamps it on LE-line models.

No idea why.

because they look cool.  They don't need them anymore, but people like them.  I know I do.

Does Colt sell the 6920s into the regular stream of distributors, or is it like Winchester Ranger ammo, where they sell it to distributors, saying "just sell these to cops," but then doesn't care where it ends up?  Will they do warranty work on a LE-marked weapon if you are not LE/Gov't?  Anyone ever get hassled for having a gun or magazine that says, in essence, "Cops Only"?

If another ban comes,  a few years after that ban,  I don't want a gun that says "RESTRICTED MILITARY/GOVT. LAW ENFORCEMENT USE ONLY"

Though it still may still be legal to own, there will be a few cases of police unaware of the legality, causing alot of fuss and subsequent legal fees till it's cleared up weeks/months  later.

I wish Colt would not print that on their receivers.

It's fucking ghey, and as a recovering Colt fan, I refuse to buy
their .MIL/LEO defaced receivers.

Colt will do warranty work and tell you where you can buy them regardless if you are LEO/Gov or not.

Not all states are free.

It's a 1 year warranty, but from what I've read from other people's experienes, if you have a problem, it'll get taken care of.

Thats funny. I got one just because it WAS marked "restricted".
Why?
Because I was bored with the "regular" stampings on my other Colt's.
I also got a RRA "U.S.Property" marked lower because it was different than my other RRA lowers.

I'm sure he was saying the tooling was made during the ban. No reason for colt to waste money and change it. Doesn't bother them.

Probably because there are still some states with an AWB in place. They don't use that stamping on the MT 6400c, which is a ban compliant version (and why I used 2 6400c receivers for my M4 clone builds).

COlt told me they did it becasue some states still have a ban, but  cops  still buy  the LE line.  the LE is for sale to anyone that   the states allow, and the MT line is for states  with a ban

I think the LE marked guns are for LE only on CT.

I know that Spike's was laser engraving their lowers this way - got one.

They just did it because they could.

Pretty much agree with this.  I don't know that I'd refuse to buy, but it's definitely ghey.

I never really thought about it. The 6920 had everything I was looking for in a rifle so I bought it.

Same, I won't buy a rifle with them either.  Luckily Colt makes the MT line.

+1

Knowing my luck, I would get the rookie cop who thinks that only LE/Mil can have that weapon and I stole it from an officer/soldier.

+1!

And also, is there anywhere you can get a stripped MT lower?  I'd love a Colt but I don't like the "Restricted LE use only" stamp myself.

Nodak Spud did a run of them a couple years ago.
