Thank you.  You should've seen the ribbin I took in the M4 pic thread over that sweater.  LOL.  I like it too.  It is warm.  But the funny thing is, it was something I just grabbed before I left.  I could give a crap what it looks like, as long as it does it's job.  Which was keep me warm.  I guess within reason.  I'm not planning on wearing hot pink or something like that.

This is evidence that I look at gun pictures to much.

It is funny that you are obscuring shooting table #7 and you are using magazine #7

Shooting a stage at our local 2gun match. 1/3 ISPC sized steel at 270 yards from a simulated roof. Rifle is a Knights Armament SR15 Mod 1 Carbine (14.5 dimpled barrel).

I'm not sure what those are.....that was a borrowed magazine.

In Canada, the legal mag cap for semi auto rifles is 5 rounds per magazine.  I know, lame.  However, we're allowed 10 rounds per mag for pistols, and since there are AR pistols, we can get LAR mags which hold 10 rounds in a mag.  I think the one in the photo there is a Beowulf mag with some sort of mag extension on it.  Beowulf mags hold 5 rounds of Beowulf, but about 14 rounds of 223, so a lot of competitors use 5 round Beowulf mags (5/5, 5/7/ and 5/10) so they can get about 14 rounds of .223.

I showed up to my first match ever with about a dozen 5-round PMags and people in my squad felt sorry for the noob (me) and lent me a bunch of assorted mags that held more than 5 rnds.

Thanks :)  Yeah, I was much better prepared for the match this year, with fresh batteries in the Eotech and extra batteries just in case.  It was super fun and a great learning experience.  Haha, serving the country might not sound so good if anyone knew how bad of a shot I am :(

Pics from this year's annual 3Gun Redneck Championships.  It was my second time in any sort of competition, and I sucked a little less than last year,  but it was still fun.

Representing the old guys.....

At least I can still go prone.....

I love it when I can put a smile on someones face when they go shooting with me....  He got to shoot my 03A3 too.  Which apparently his dad owned one and carried one in WWII.

I know, not very tactical.  Oh well.

I thinks its so silly that some people are so obsessed with that shooting style...maybe if you have ever seen the National Matches where the best shooters in the world shoot you will be amazed at how many people still do shoot that way.  Remember...there is more than one way to shoot.

It wasn't a criticism (hence the clown smiley).  In the 1990s I shot Rifle Expert in the USMC utilizing said Tactical Chicken Wing, so I'm not a hater.  That's how we were taught.  We were also taught to blade our body to the threat on the theory that we would present a smaller target.  Both of these practices are generally considered outdated today so it's kind of novel to see it now.

That depends on who you talk to.  Although it does seem the majority of BTDT guys shoot more squared.  I think vickers teaches bladed.  Heck, I think the most useful position is kneeling.    Makes a smaller target, aids some stability and isn't that hard to get in and out of.  It's only cuz I'm really not that great off hand.  LOL.....

Of course my favorite position is prone.  The ground makes a good rest, especially with an AR (mag as monopod)

I feel that one, my knees are destroyed so kneeling is worse than offhand for me.

Hell, JJ's probably are too (degenerative disease) Maybe we should all ditch the guns and take up crochet instead.

LOL.  Yeah, I just ignore the snap crackle pop every time I kneel down.  I used to install cabinetry a while ago to and that was heck on my knees.  But whatever.  I need to keep working on my left arm / shoulder strength to get it more solid for offhand shooting.   My one way to deal with is just bring it in more, in more of a hipower shooters stance.  But I can see how you can swing better with it further out.

Any way you slice it, if your shooting past 25-50 yards, some kind of rest is always helpful.... depending on the size of the target.

Indian style works too.  I think I actually shoot better in this position than any other position, accuracy wise.  Including prone.  Just not very mobile.

Exactly.  The squared stance and forward grip is CQB shooting 25-50 with body armor toward the threat and fast hits on target/targets.  Past 50 or 100, shoot to get to cover.  My secondary position was kneeling with strong knee down to make get up and movement fast.  Shot the Army pop up range to 300 transitioning standing at 25-50 to kneeling hits to 300.  USMC shooting 200 in indian style slow fire and rapid fire was great but my hips cannot do that anymore.  Good thing about getting older?  NOTHING!
ETA: if you aren't wearing body armor, squared stance doesn't make much sense except some recoil control.
