More pics.

I'm still trying to get this one to lengthen the stock or pull it in tighter, but she keeps it short and complains that the rear sight hits her glasses.

I call this the Pop Tart gun.

I'm not sure why you're arguing about it.  You should always wear eye and ear protection at the range.  It's just smart in case something happens. (Which it can and has). If you have to use your gun in an emergency situation, then sure, don't worry about it if you don't wear glasses.  But it's not a wise recommendation to tell people to NOT wear glasses at the range because you should "train as you fight".  Show me guys that use guns for a living that don't wear eye protection at the range.  Or training.

This. ^^

Otherwise you should also train in your pajamas, groggy, and in bare feet with no ear pro.

The US mil has been doing it for hundreds of years before the advent of the PT belt tards.

And I regularly shoot with members local to me who don't wear them, some who happen to be cops. I can go to the established ranges and find people not wearing them.

Seriously, this is not something one should go full retard about. Or shall we discuss pistols with no manual safeties and all of the negligent discharges that's happened, hm? Safety first, as you say, never disregard it, so pot to kettle?

To each his own I guess.  I apologize if I'm out of line.  I don't really think it's a good idea.  And I don't really see anybody going full retard.  I do think people need to cut newbs some slack sometimes.  But whatever.  Telling him to lean into it and wear some glasses isn't bad advice, in my book.  The collapsing the stock comment didn't make sense.  But anyways....

Pic thread.

Oh it is... it's the most fun thing to do with a gun I've found yet, and some of the best training.  That's why I started organizing these events here in Oklahoma.

Thank you.  It is a dimpled barrel 14.5" and it is a sweet rifle.  The NT4 MAMS works great and I am happy with it.

It was his first time.  And he's still got to work on upper body strength.  I was trying to show him how to lean in with pistols, but I think his arms were getting tired.

Just call it a good HiPower stance.  LOL.

But aren't M-1 Carbines about the best looking long guns?  At least I think so.

I think so too, and they are a really nice shooting gun.  They get a little bit of a bad rap for being a bit lower on the power side, but still not something to mess with.    My grandpa carried one for most of WWII as a engineer (did a lot of the repair and set up of the ports in France as the allies slowly liberated Normandy and later LeHavre), and said that when he did his weapons training that he preferred it of all the different weapons that he had to learn and train with, even over the M1 Rifle.   He liked that it was small enough it was easy to pack around and didn't get in his way, it was light weight, and easy to quickly shoot if needed....all of the things that make a carbine a very effective tool.

It was my goal, a while back, to make my M-1 carbine my go to gun.  But I could never get it to run right.  The bolt parts broke on my a few times and I had to replace them.  With not a lot of rounds through it.  I could never get it to be reliable.  When I first got it a replaced springs and in the end, I learned my op slide spring was too short, even though I bought it from Fulton.  I never verified length, just trusted it was good.  I eventually ordered one from Orion 7 and it's in there now.  I also have shot mine at distances out to 300 yards.

In the end, an AR was more reliable and more accurate.  It just seemed dumb to fight it.  I do love them carbines though.  So light and handy.  I've got no problem with the cartridge at distances that might be called on for being effective.  Sight radius is better too for a carbine.  Works with my old eyes better.

One thing that really bugs me is the pistol grip on them is like longer from where you place your hand to the trigger, than even a Garand or M1A and it makes it very awkward to me.  If it were just like a Garand or M1A, it would feel like money.

My Grandpa was a Sergeant in the 2nd I.D.  He died on July 25th of 44 around a town called St. George D'Elle.  On the front end of Operation Cobra.  Those f*(&ing Germans.
