If someone wanted the best AR-15 money can buy, what do you think it would be?
To keep it simple, let's stick to the basic gun packages as made by the manufacturer. Criteria: - .223/5.56 - 16" barrell - carbine Looking forward to the opinions. Mark |

KAC.
http://www.knightarmco.com/ Buy it if you can find it, I did, have not been happier. 16" URX, fit and finish is great, trigger awesome, the list goes on... Also I use and like www.noveskerifleworks.com The n4 light is awesome and I like my noveske's and www.larue.com Just got a 16" stealth, have not shot it much yet however. Those are tops in most peoples list, also consider LMT and Colt. |
KAC SR15 E3 hands down.
Does everything a Colt/LMT does, but has more features built into it. The HK416, if we could ever our hands on one, would be the other. |
IMO LMT I traded my Colt for it. I would love to have a Knight's SR15 though.
Noveske's are nice and I Love the press my N4 gets with the hammer forged double chrome lined M249 barrel, I also the SWS rails, Vltor, and Troy sites the Noveske comes with makes it one of the best looking rifles out there, but it does nothing special over my Bushmaster M4 I bought 4 years ago.
I'm gonna say LMT, since I don't have a Noveske or Knights yet.

OMG...not this shit again. Is it Monday already? Aren't Thursday's M4 feed ramp day?

Vulcan +1 for the guns of the special forces. The OP might as well have asked everyone what their favorite color is |
I've had great success with vulcan/blackthorne/hesse. They make great weapons!
I like my 16" Rock River
But differetn strokes for different folks |
I have a couple complete LMT M4's that run flawlessly. As long as it fires when it is supposed to, it is the best rifle available.
16inch barrel and semi-auto fcg is not standard issue for infantry so that throws a wrench into it. Otherwise I would say purchase parts or assemblies from companies that have or have had military M16/M4 contracts/sub-contracts and you likely will be getting parts that would also go into their military guns. It would be more efficient for a company to use legally compatable and same source parts in the military and commercial lines. Assemble your rifle and it should be as close as legally possible to all mil-spec.

what the hell, I will play:
kac noveske sabre Just got a sabre, i am surprised these are not mentioned more often. They are freaking nice. |
There is no one answer that will fit all the needs of the shooter.
The correct answer is "as many as possible". |

Why bother asking this rediculous question?
It's like walking into a bar and asking "whats the best beer?" |

If it wasn't for questions in this genre (best?/worst?) I wouldn't have known which manufacturers to specifically avoid when buying rifles, mags, ammo. Also FYI: The best local (to me) beer is Bavarian Bliss Hefewiezen. The best regional beer is Oberon |

The Arms Tech USR as featured in the las April issue of SWAT. Now that Joe got a big military contract good luck in geting one. But, a couple of us have him convinced to open a civilian line in his new, big. factory when he move into it next month. Look at pics of Karzai's body gurads and many have the Compact16 with can.

LaRue, cause it's made to TexasSpec which we all know is lightyears ahead of milspec.

nobody said les baer yet? I thought those were supposed to be very good. KAC is also up there. But both brands are extremely pricey. For a top quality duty gun(not so expensive you dont mind running it hard) id say sabre noveske lmt and colt all pretty much equal. Noveske and sabre are known for having some of the best factory barrels on the market around these parts.

Easy.
#1 MSTN custom build. (it will of course be built with KAC, LMT, Colt, and Knights stuff) #2 COLT 6920 #3 LMT Defender (complete rifle) Don't give me that fucking DD or Noveske shit either. |

COLT 6920. Why,because I have one.And if I have one it must be the best.

Best carbine regardless of price?

It might be the kind of question you ask a specific person in order to get their opinion. It is NOT the kind of question you post on a forum for 100 different people to answer. Case in point, look at the replies. CMMG? Stag? RRA? Are you fucking kidding? Most of the people replying are justifying their own purchases. |
#1.Colt
#2.LMT #3.Noveske Be aware that Colts often use a different sized pin ,so you may have parts interchangability issues with colt trigger parts and non-Colt lowers and non-Colt trigger parts . My solution to this problem has been to purchase all Colts and Colt spare internal parts . Oh , and my favorite color is green. Magpul Foliage Green to be precise . |
