Thanks! It's a plain old 6933 upper with gov't profile and .750 gas block journal which I suppose is the somewhat newer 6933 profile. I'm not a fan of heavy or medcon barrels and ditched my SOCOMs a few years ago. Of course the dimpled Mod 1 Carbine is the exception for obvious reasons.

I can't justify another upper build, but I might have to sell a few things and build an 11.3 mini recce like yours and @RTUtah I think the medium FF RAS paired with a 11.3 and 1-x LPVO is mini recce perfection. Excellent builds!

Sorry it has taken me so long to respond. This is my 16" Mod 2 barrel that I'm going to send out to be chopped to 14.5". It appears to be roughly a .07" gas port and drilled the traditional straight down.

Thanks for the info @Outrider! This is why I wanted confirmation from someone here. There's a member on TOS (who is also a member here) claiming that Mod 2 gas ports are drilled at an angle towards the muzzle, but this doesn't appear to be the case. I'm sure all Mod 2's are drilled the same, so not sure where he got his info.

I've also been curious about 14.5" Mod 2 Carbine gas port diameters, so I'll post that info along with pics when I get mine apart.

I torque it 3 times since I kept getting a little past. At the end I could only get 30-35ft lbs of torque. Are the shims one time use only or can I remove the rail to add a little shim to try and get the torque up?

That upper makes me wish I had a 3.1 to replace my 2 on my 11.5" build.... one day I will just have to build another one
