Was able to get this thing back with some horse trading to a friend I initially sold it to. After all said and done, I came out ahead a pretty decent amount from the initial sale.

Swapped in the URX II and chopped a grip I had for the .22 SBR. I'd love to SBR my new KAC lower for this rig.

This is a very stupid question but I'm new to the Ar-15 platform. I have a DD MK18 upper with no rail on it. I ordered and am trying to install a KAC 10.75 URX4 MLOK rail on it. Could I stick with the DD gas block? Could the rail be installed with the gas block still on the upper? Thank you!

The URX 4 has an integrated barrel nut. Gas block will be installed after the rail has been torqued into place. There is a video on YouTube by KAC that shows the process.

What would happen if I torqued the rail on with the gas block already in place?

Well I don't believe the barrel nut in the URX 4 will pass over a gas block. Secondly, the barrel nut portion of the rail features a hole for the gas tube to pass through into the upper receiver. Torquing the URX 4 with a gas block and tube installed will most likely twist and destroy it.

You could always turn to somebody like boltcarrier if you have any concerns about doing it yourself.

It will snap the gas tube off between the rail and the upper.  I've done it, didn't hurt the rail just needed a new gas tube--good times.

If it's just the gas block and not the tube then you have to remove the gas block to install the rail

You can't get the RIS II barrel nut off without removing the gas block and you can't get the URX4 on without removing the gas block. So, you will need to remove the gas block.

As far as installation, the only way to install is to get the rail torqued on and then install the gas block. You can't really get the gas tube in through the receiver as you can't pin it into the gas block after the rail is installed.

This is my favorite one so far.
The URX 3.1/14.5"/MAMS M4QD combo does it.

Thank you IronBalaclava.

That SBR rocks!

The 14.5 now has an ambidextrous magazine release.  I also swapped the Razor out for a PST 1-4.

First KAC purchase. I find myself looking for more and more Knights parts now. This and my research into clones is like a whole new level of black rifle disease. I have a tacticool Recce build, a AR9 build, and this will be a SOPMOD clone with a 22lr upper for training and eventually a 556 Block 1 upper as well.

Nicely done.

It's addictive.

I made a few changes to my wife's carbine in the way of the new magazine release and a different muzzle brake.

I remember when you were deciding on what direction to go with your SBR. Still one of the sexiest configurations all time in my opinion.

Thanks.  I'll get some KAC irons for it at some point.

The cat was tripping balls on catnip, but I was getting him to look my way at the time.  KiloNiner Pets makes the harness.
