Have a new Aero A4 that I was looking at doing a USMC inspired build with, but LMAO at paying $300-$500 for a beat up M5 RAS. They were like $50 on eBay not even 5 years ago.
For those that are using Midwest rails, would you go for the free float option and cut the delta ring or just go with the drop in? If I had someone in my AO (or work space for myself  ) I would go with a BCM QRF but I don't have anyone that can take off the FSB properly.

One of my post apacolyptic rifles, an outfitted M16A4.
I originally bought this transferable M16A4 from an Executive at Colt 10yrs ago. This was one of the guns from the famed collection. The executive had the manufacture department manufacture a dozen rifles and carbines in both M16A4 config and M4A1 config in 2008, using serial numbers Colt had previously registered as transferable machineguns in 1985. The ATF let it slide as NOT post ban since they never transferred out Colt/manufacturer's possession for 20 something years. These 12-15 guns are the only known factory built modern day A4s/M4s that are civilian transferable. I bought three of them (1 in M4A1 config) while they were briefly available and ate ramen noodles for two years. All are in the possession of advance collectors. With the exception of one of the M4A1 configs currently listed on GB for 150K. All came NIB, half of them were M16A4s the other half were M4A1's. *newbe 2000 character per post limit, Continued* |

This is the first of the 3 that I bought. It came NIB in a serialized box and serialized barcoded tag specifying it is model R0901. I looked into what a R0901 is, and it is an "Auto stamped" M16A4 for export only. My initial intent was to create a M16A4 apacolyptic rifle. I bought an AR15-A4 and to build up a fully configured clone. While both rifles were stock, they were identical minus the fun switch and feed ramps. The intent here is to build up the clone to the configuration I want while leaving the M16 NIB, then when the apocalypses hits, simply swap over the FA lower and headout into the wasteland for eternity. I have since recently created an all new post-apacolyptic rifle with the M4A1 I got from the same collection. That I painfully decided to shoot, so it's already configured into a 12" LMT piston MRP upper with an Elcan. That's now my official take to the grave machinegun, but I have many others such as this M16A4 to handoff to my apacolyptic followers. Regarding that, I plan to rape and pillage post-apacolyptic settlements Megan style, so if you are willing to join the family and leave your morals, conscious & ethics behind, I will outfit you with a machinegun of your choosing, including this M16A4. I am Snail... WE are Snail...

Here’s my M16A4gery
Still deciding if I want to put an ACOG on it for the look or a LPVO for the additional capabilities.  Currently has a Brownells retro A1 stock on it which I need to swap out. I really want to put a reproduction Type E stock on to maintain the “look” of the A2 stock but without the added length. Anyone know of a reproduction A1 Type E stock that is actually foam filled? Most of the ones I find are hollow on the inside. I personally hate the A2 length as it makes the rifle much less usable when in kit. A1 length is just perfect and with it I enjoy shooting this rifle so much. |

I snagged one, wish I bought another. I have no plans to build another A4 but the way the M5 and M4 RAS supply has dried up the past year it might be worth having one to stash away just in case. I hope they will get some M4 P&S sets in, not just because of clone builds but because the M4 and M5 RAS are really good hand guards even if they are a bit dated design wise.
