The FN safeties are basically the same design as the Colt's. They have a short lever on the non dominant side.

Ha yeah I'd signed up for the notice the other day after I'd posted that and got the same email this morning. Ordered 2 more.

One of my best friends shooting some of my guns here in San Diego.
I did fire this AR15A4-ish of mine as well for the first time (today) and it's just awesome.

Such mild recoil and great accuracy.
Reminds me why I wanted another one.

PS it now sports a second hand, RCO Acog I just got with a specific A4 BDC.

Your options are numerous. Go back to the top of page 90 for just a sampling - though note: that list is no where near complete as to what was either available or used...

You could also go with Specter's CQB sling or a Blackhawk sling. Nice thing about the Specter stock pouch is that it's adaptable to damn near any of the slings out there. Your options really are nearly endless.

Just over nine years later, it's still not quite finished; though now, I think the end is actually within sight. Only one or two minor details (rack numbers, ect.) and one huge obstacle (the PVS-14D) remain, though I'm hoping to hurdle the -14 by this X-mas...

Here's my AR15-A4 for an M16A4 clone with M5 RAS.  Had to grind a full length 11-rib rail cover to 5-rib. Also replaced the safety with short thumb shelf from High Standard with a detent/cut on the right side.
by the way, how to put a rail cover on top of RAS rear clamp screw?  The screw retainer would get in the way of the rail cover?
Also, for now it's wearing P.A. 3.5x compact scope as Trijicon's 4x32 ACOG TA31s with red chevrons are not commercially sold up here.  Although they pop up from time to time in Canadian forums.  I'd really love to hav the TA31RC0A4CP but is unobtainium here!
Someday an acog will sit on top of her....someday....

The top rail cover can be done. You can either remove the upper rail and install it, or start it from the back of the upper receiver and slide it on.

Uhh....Not quite sure what you mean or if serious, however in all seriousness & as stated earlier in this thread, I'm currently working on completing 3 (new) M16A4 builds, each of which built around 80% receivers.
One to be a "Colt" A4 build, another to be an "FN" A4 build, and the third I haven't decided whether to do a "Sabre Defense" A4 build, or simply leave it as a "Ghost Gun" A4 with only the "Safe / Semi / Burst" markings.

Got my clone put together.  Trying to upload a picture now.  Got an M16A4 engraved lower to go with it.

I found a brand new in box TA31RCOM150 locally for $1100 out the door.  Tempted to get it but on the fence if I'll be happy or if I should dish out the extra for an A4.  If I found one used that'd work too.  This will be my first acog and mostly long range plinking down the powerlines.

I've got a fire force cqb sling that came with my KAC RAS.  Is this a correct sling for an A4?  When looped through the front sling swivel the gun is pretty unnatural to carray and hangs upside down.  Seems most people have a velcro attachment around the front handguards.  As well, any leads on correct pouches?  Trying to add what I can while I try to find an ACOG.

Just wanted to let everybody know that with all the Photobucket shenanigans going on, it's going to take me a while to fix all the hundreds of pics that I've posted in this & other threads here as I am now done using $hitbucket for anything anymore.
I have since created an Imgur account (for use with my higher res photos) and will be fixing all the screwed up pics as best as I can.

I do still plan on completing the Sling & Pouch Posts on page 90 (I've fixed most of the photos that were previously posted there), though it will still be some time before those posts are all done & fixed. Everything else photo-wise that I've posted has been fixed in this thread going back to @ page 75 thus far. Eventually, I'll get the other threads' photos converted over to Imgur or uploaded directly to Arfcom.

Apologies,
Mike / FlDiveCop71

Sling options: there's a lot in this thread for your to research here and there for sling options. I would say, the route I went myself: Specter. I know for sure several Marines use it.

First off, Congrats on obtaining an A4 Acog in Canada! Nicely done A4 clone you have there.
Secondly, you can go to the top of page 90 for a short list of a number of slings that have been used with the M16A4 over time. (Sorry I haven't yet completed the sling write up, though hopefully I'll find the time to finish it up soon.) Aside from those in the list, you could also use a Blackhawk 3-point, or the specter cqb 2-point slings as well.

Hope this helps you.

Thanks Solo and FiDiveCop!
I called trijicon last week just to make sure this is not stolen U.S. gov't property and fortunately, it was commercially shipped to a dealer.  The RCO was made March 2013.
My only question is with the chevron reticle, I can see the tritium highlight going down until the 550m mark.  Is this really the case? As with trijicon's website, it is until the 600m mark.
And also the red fiber is like 7mm short from the end of the channel.  Although trijicon confirmed this is just fine as long as it extends past the housing bell dip and has the same amount of light transfer compared to one that goes at the end.

With slings, I would take a look and decide between 3-pt. or 2-pt slings.

My only question is with the chevron reticle, I can see the tritium highlight going down until the 550m mark.  Is this really the case? As with trijicon's website, it is until the 600m mark. There have been a number of ever-so-slight changes made to the various A4 Acogs over time. One of the changes is lengthening the amount of "cheveron" that is highlighted. The earlier the model, generally, the shorter the amount of the "cheveron" that is highlighted.
And also the red fiber is like 7mm short from the end of the channel.  Although trijicon confirmed this is just fine as long as it extends past the housing bell dip and has the same amount of light transfer compared to one that goes at the end. This is perfectly fine/normal. In fact, it may actually benefit you in the end as often the fiberoptic is covered over using electrical tape or 300mph tape if used in broad daylight /direct sunlight in order to help "dim down" an overly-bright cheveron. Being manufactured in 2013, the Tritium is almost certain to be quite dim by now, but even in a worn out state, the fiber optic will still brighten up the cheveron at night under average suburban or moon-lit conditions. Here in the States, the Acog can be refurbished with new tritium for @ $188 US funds, though I'm not sure if yours can be serviced this route or not.

With slings, I would take a look and decide between 3-pt. or 2-pt slings.

Awesome rifle! Lucky find indeed on the ACOG :D
I ordered one through IRunGuns and the order was canceled. They basicaly told me its impossibru for them to get the Acog to cross the border for me.

Luckily I can still get the AimPoint M4s tho. Getting all the parts and waiting for the actual ColtAR15a4 rifle to come from the States.
For the sling, I put an order of Specter Gear CQB 3 point sling(Wolvering Supplies) and ordered the Spec-Ops mag pouch (Ebay)to pair with the sling.

And huge thank you for FlDiveCop71 for your extremely valuable info here!

Is there a conscientious on rail covers?

I see photos of soldiers having the whole rail covered including the top and like in the last batch of photos of the Marines only having covers on the back where you hold the rail.

I think the word you're looking for is "consensus"?  - of which, there really isn't any as it seems to vary by command & use, though KAC recommends not using any top rail covers if the weapon is expected to see periods of prolonged fire (ie: battle), and trying to change out the top panels with the rail installed is generally a pain in the a$$, so while you might install any set of panels that you wish - wherever you wish - I'd stay away from using any on the top side... even if the A4 has been taken off of frontline duty & thus less likely to experience prolonged fire, I still prefer to keep my options easy & "open".
