Wow. Nice. How heavy is the closer rifle? Does the MLOK cut down on the weight much compared to the old Pic versions?

It’s definitely handier feeling than the green one, However, the barrel is 14.5” and has been ball milled by Marvin pits... The balance is more favorable. B4 adding anything it weighed in at 8.7 which is comparable to some of the newer 7.62 offerings. Granted the MWS is always going to have the indexing collar as a handicap.

@Sabre675 Thanks. That's actually lighter than I expected. Those LMT guns look chunky, so I figured over 9lbs unloaded.

I only run my 30cal can on these the smaller can is for
my 9mm’s I just threw it on for the pics
Thinking about picking up some dedicated 5.56 cans
The YHM Turbo T2’s are at the top of my list right now.
I can get 3 for the price of 2 Recce 5’s

16”
AR Performance wylde w/ Templar Tactical Archangel 30cal
Fortis Rev2 w/6” KAC panel on bottom rail
Noveske Switchblock
Bootleg Adj BCG
CMC drop in flat trigger w/kns pins
YHM EZ takedown pins
Ergo grip
UBR gen1
AccuTac BR4-qd gen1
US Optics MR10 1.8-8 w/illuminated gap reticle
Bobro QD mount
Fixed offset A2 style sight w/Blitzkrieg post

14.5”
AR Performance wylde mid length w/ Crux Axe9
Noveske Switchblock
Bootleg Adj BCG
CMC drop in flat trigger
YHM regular takedown pins
Ergo grip
UBR gen1
AccuTac BR4 mounted to a Kinetic MLok QD 3 slot rail
US Optics SN4 1.5-6 w/illuminated JNG mil reticle
Bobro QD mount
Fixed Offset A2 style sight w/blitzkrieg post

The pics below you can see the
difference in cerakote color better.
Haven’t shot them with the Switchblocks and Adj BCG
I want to see if by combining the 2 and tuning them how
much gas can be reduced and how it will affect recoil.
Just something to do
And I’m having fun with the Offset sights right now
The more I practice the more it makes sense “to me”
to run them instead of my Troy BUIS.
I do run my flip up BUIS on my rigs that have RDS’s.
Co witnessed, that’s what makes sense “to me”.

Now if the gas reduction project fails that means
I’ll have either 2 Switchblocks or 2 Adj BCGs leftover and
as per Section 19.1 A49 paragraph 2 in the builders handbook
that automatically qualifies me for 2 more new builds. 🤣🤣🤣

I know I’m probably in the minority, but I wish Leupold would make this in the following configuration in the MK5 series as niche optic for a 5.56 Recce or a 7.62 lighter SPR build. New Leupold MK5HD 1-6, FFP, H27D or similar Horus-ish reticle with a fine center crosshair for dialing, Lockable ZeroStop .1 milrad exposed turrets, daylight bright dot, 17 oz optic. Niche, Yeti, 💴💴💴. 🙏

Did you get the barrel cut down from a 16"? I was hoping to be able to pin and weld a surefire flash hider or warcomp on the 13.5 lw barrel, but it looks like I'll be too short without a spacer.
I only have the mars-h lower at the moment, trying to figure out the best route for the shortest and lightest barrel without SBRing.

Hey guys I’ve got an optic question. For those of you running a 2.5-10 on a 16” gun how do you like it? I currently am running a razor 1-6 on my 16” recce and am thinking of taking it off and running it on a 10.3 mini recce. If I do that I’m looking at getting a night force 2.5-10 to run on the 16” gun. Since it wouldn’t have the true 1x and dot I would probably run a t1 offset. Just wondering how you guys like that setup or should I just keep the 1-6 on the 16 and get another one for the mini recce. Thanks for the info guys.

@stagepaint

Sorry I just noticed this. The MLOK is a factory 16” C/L, 1:10, Carbine length gas system, that was KAC Ball Milled, chopped and pinned w/Surefire Socom Brake, to 14.5”, 16” OAL. I think in hindsight, you may get away w/13.8”, and it would look bad ass, either ball milled and/or ball milled or standard factory Lightweight offerings LMT has now.

The green rifle, in contrast, is a 18” 5R, SS, 1:12, mid length, chopped to 16”. Ball milled as well.

Both barrels were worked by Marvin Pitts of Nefarious Arms,  previously employed by Knights Armament.

I just did a 13.8”, midl-length, ball milled and pinned, in a 5.56 variant MRP. Form is awesome, yet to test function.

[#23]

A lot of thought, yet bastardized build, getting closer to fruition. Just got the originally, 18”, 5R SS, mid-length  Barrel back from Marvin Pitts, of Nefarious Arms, where it was Chopped to 13.8”. Pinned to a Surefire Socom, KAC Ball Milled and ion bonded. Still needs an Optic, Mount and some support gear before it is totally mini Recce’ish. Hopefully it is as operational in functionality as it is in form.

It is finally shaping up to resemblances of it larger siblings

Rarely used the viper higher than 1x. But my initial impression is the steiner has better glass and a better eye box. Do5 brightness isnt as big of a deal for me ... so I dont have an opinion in that dept.

I've got a Swampfox 1-8x scope on the way, and I'm trying to decide on which mount to go with.  I have a Larue mount and an Aero Precision one on other rifles.  Can't decide between the quick disconnect Larue or the ultra light Aero.

Should I ditch my flip up sights and go with the fixed mount?  Or spend the extra $130 and go with the Larue mount?
Link Posted: 5/11/2020 8:09:03 PM EDT

Thinking of swapping the scope to a 1-8 but besides that she is done and recc-ish. Noveske Gen 2 lower, Geiselle trigger, BCM upper, WOA 16 inch barrel, KAC URX 3.1, Larue scope mount, Leupold 3-9, and B5 SOPMOD stock, Warne bipod and form 1 titanium can . I think it needs the rattle can treatment though!
