Nice rifle. Looks very similar in concept to one I just built.

Good all-around gun.

I have a few recce style setups.  I wanted to build an other one using a m4a1 as a base and use a KAC FF RAS for the rail, kinda keeping it .mil with a mk12 optic.  Well my buddy dobs013 talked me out of murdering my m4a1 copy then things snow balled.

I picked the tightest fitting receivers I had (colt ce2000 upper and PSA PI complete lower for hosts)
Standard upper/lower parts
Geissele mk8 13" DDC M-LOK
Battlecomp 1.5 SS
On the way
Rainer Arms 14.5 select barrel 5r (Ballistic Advantage SS Hanson profile was my first choice but this worked out better)
LMT SOPMOD (may use CTR in fde)
BCM mod 3 grip
Future parts
Vortex Razor gen II 1-6
Badger ordnance one piece mount
KAC micro buis
Geissele trigger

Since this is a pic thread this is all I got until more parts come in:

This was my 6.8 Recce that I built, and sold, years ago.  Pretty generic build but it was insanely accurate.  It was a fun gun to shoot and I needed the money I sold it.  I had debated selling the bolt and barrel and swapping out to a 5.56 but the whole gun, mags, and ammo sold as a bundle.  Since then I built an almost identical version for my boy that is posted pages back.  I do regret selling it, it was a very fun gun.

Well, I have an 18" LaRue Stealth barrel, and everything else I needed to complete my SPR build, but have been watching this thread with much interest. I've decided a Recce is much more useful for me, especially as I've now sourced an AR10 for long-range duties. So, now I'm trying to trade the 18" barrel - just not what I want. This happen to anyone else? Going for an SPR then ran across this thread? I'm actually thinking 14.5" Socom barrel now...

I like the one on the previous page too. I just sourced a 16" barrel, so I'm close. Building the lower next weekend, might get the upper screwed together too if I have time...

It's a very cool build.  But FWIW, I think it at least has to be Free floated to be considered a "recce".

Got my parts back from cerakote and put it all back together.
Aero upper and Texas lower
14.5" Larue Stealth
SLR adjustable gas block and muzzle break
B5 Sopmod stock
Leupold 3-9x VX-R Patrol in Aero mount
Not shown is the offset MBUS pro sight and light. I plan to use it for night hunting so it got a 750 lumen streamlight to spot light hogs and axis deer.

Will have a Larue MBT trigger and Larue Apeg when they eventually ship.

The piggyback system certainly works.  A mini reflex and 3-9x combo makes a lot of sense.  Sort of best of both worlds.

I had that setup and loved it, but for lifting my head off the stock to see through the red dot.  Someone suggested a 45 degree offset.  I gave it a try and find it faster and easier.  Head stays down, just rotate stock.

Either works.  Personal preference.  Much better than 1-6x for my Recce. Here's the current setup, less the HBR-S Harris, not in pic. Offset mini reflex is DeltaPoint Pro in ADM AD mount.

Tried the off set red dot first but could never get comfortable with it plus I'm a left handed shooter.  Right on top seems to be perfect for me...  Not that I ever really use it cause I use that rifle for my bench shooting but it's there

Negative ghostrider, your pattern is too wide..... Bring some 5.56 KAC into this thread and then the pattern is clear.
