Is 1/2"x28 tpi (AR15 flash hider) and 1/2"x28 UNEF the same thread size?

"TPI" is just how many threads per inch, or the "thread pitch" needed.  I don't recall right off what the "UN" in "UNEF" stands for, but it not only states "extra fine" but the form of the threads (square, round, 45º angle, etc.) as well.

"unified" -- part of the UTS system, rapidly being killed off by ISO...

Is the standard AR15 flash hider UNEF or UNF threaded?
