That would be a carbine, not a midlength.

Give me a break man, I hotlinked the wrong picture.

WOW!  Where is that!!!  I wish I had a place to shoot that was as cool as that!hr

I can't speak for steve-oh, but it looks kind of like the west shore of Utah Lake, across from Provo.    My favorite place to shoot.

Nice guns guys! The mid length just looks like a carbine should look.

Tag  -  I've got a middy barrel on an upper that I've got to build around.

If you don't have a middy carbine yet, I'd highly recommend just making something simple out of it.  I have a bigass uber-tactical type middy carbine, and I'm jealous of my buddy's simple one.  It's just a flat top with gov't profile barrel, LMT BUIS, regular handguards and 6-pos stock.  It's light and the most fun of any AR I've ever played around with.

When it's done, I'll post some pics of it.

Nice. If you ever get tired of all that weight up front, send the barrel to ADCO to have it profiled

What is it about middys that make them so damn appealing in KISS format?

Thanks.  I know what you mean, it's pretty nose heavy.  I put another RRA lower on with a M4 stock for S&G and it's REALLY nose heavy now.  I built it for my step dad to his specs and I don't think he was looking for a super light weight, high speed set up.

Crap picture but here's a quick shot of the same upper on a lower with M4 stock.

Thanks to you both, It was hard to tell. I find it hard to tell the difference between the Larue and the daniel defense other than the name printed on it. I'm still trying to figure out what I want on My middy build.

Here's a couple of mine . Sorry bout the crappy images......
RRA  straight middie, flattop , VFG is now gone and I have a LaRue Eotech mount (not pictured)..

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v600/jj762c/Mvc-174s.jpg

and my latest, finished last Friday.... RRA, A1 stock , PRI FS ARMS 58M, Aimpoint M3, MGI buffer, ARMS 40L BUIS.....

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v600/jj762c/12-12-2005middiearmssightsdown.jpg

Both shoot great. The new one only has about 50 rds thru it.  I'll shoot another 200-300 and then make any changes. I 'll probably switch to a hogue grip. The MIAD is ok but I think I like the Hogue better.

In the future, the DD uses a faceted locking ring like the KAC and the larue's has the fine grooves all the way around it.

I think the faceted ring on the DD has been replaced with a new design.
