I am planning on getting a RRA carbine length upper. Will ADCO, RB Precision, etc. chrome line the barrel for an extra fee? (I see they will do it on M-4 barrels.) So how do you get your chrome-moly barrel chrome lined? And what should I expect to pay? Thanks.

It would likely cost you as much or more to chrome line a single chrome moly barrel, if it's even possible, than to just buy the chrome lined barrel in the first place.

None of the vendors on this site offer chrome lining services, from what I have seen.

If I understand you correctly you haven't bought the barrel (barreled upper) yet. GOOD. You can always request chrome lining which runs an extra $50 from any major dealer/manufacturer. Once you buy the barrel and it's not chromed lined, you can't get it chrome lined. (I guess you could but it would not be cost effective).

ETA: IIRC from the RRA catalog, I didn't see any chrome lining options, probably am wrong though. You might have to shop around and compromise on manufacturer to get chrome lined barrel.

They offer it on some of their barrels.

Chrome is welded on to the barrel so that has to happen at a manufacturing level.

Just checked every rifle on their website, RRA only Chrome lines their M4gery barrel.

Chrome lining is an electro-plating process. You pay more for a chrome lined barrel because it is another manufacturing process they have to do when making the barrel.

When you buy a barrel from a distributer they pull an M4 barrel from the chromed pile If you wan't non chromed one you get a M4 barrel from the unchromed pile.

Do you know what they do after chrome lining? Remachine the chamber necks or do they do a grit slurry to round everything off?

If you request it, you can get chrome lining on any RRA rifle.

I've noticed that the Goverment model has a Chromelined Wilson 16" barrel. It does not state if it's R4 which confuses me. Since Supposedly the R4 barrels are the only chromelined barrels they sell.

The vendors don't chrome the barrel, they sell you one that is already chrome lined. This is done in the manufacturing process.

If you want a chrome lined barrel, when you order you simply say, "I want a chrome lined barrel", they tell you how much, and you pay for it. That simple.

But no, if you have an unlined barrel, they can't chrome it for you.
