No, we are eagerly awaiting posting of said picture. Please do so at your earliest convenience.

Off topic question, but will a LR308 accept SR25 uppers, or vice versa?

Yes, please do! Post it, already!

yes, please do ( the SCAR photo)

and BTW: Kudos to your business decision re: KAC.

That takes balls, and shows a genuine appreciation for the civilian customer. While KA does make and offer great products, so do a lot of others.

Keep us posted on your plans

It really looks that gay, eh?

Someone call his phone number and bug him to post.

HFG,

Its my understanding (limited) that just because they won the 'competition' that doesn't necessarily mean they will get the contract?

It's a limited build of weapons, SOCOM will be receiving up to 25.

Not that it matters (because they'll never sell them) but..
Would the FN SCAR upper work with a FN FNC lower?

OK, the grip does anyway

Statement from FN Herstal:
November 30, 2004

FN HERSTAL officially selected  for the SCAR program

FN HERSTAL is pleased to announce that its SCAR prototype has been officially selected from a field of competitors through a full and open competition by the US Special Operations Command (US SOCOM) and has been awarded an IDIQ (indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity) contract that is funded for FY-2005.

The FN SCAR is a family of weapons that FN HERSTAL designed and built from the ground up to satisfy the severe USSOCOM requirements. It consists of different variants of rifles, all available in 5.56 (SCAR-Light) and 7.62 (SCAR-Heavy) calibres as well as a Grenade Launcher Module with Fire Control System

The SCAR was Operator specified, Operator tested and Operator chosen.

At this stage, the project is entirely dedicated to address US SOCOM requirements.

Interesting buttstock.  Can't imagine getting a good cheek weld will be easy on that.

Looks like left handed side bolt charging as well.

Yep, got to go get to workin myself. Sad to hear you guys didn't win as you truly deserve it. I hope the hurricane issues get cleaned up and you guys can come back and hit even harder because I'd sure like an SR15 in the future.

Looks like an FNC, Sig, and XM-8 all rolled into one.  Does that front sight fold down?  What's the barrle length?  How much does it weigh?  I gotta say, that stock doesn't impress me much.  At least they threw in a continuous top rail.
<sigh>

Oh well.

I detect a bit of misunderstanding. I am no longer associated in any way with KAC. I was a dealer for several years, but we have parted ways.

Sorry, didn't know that. My bad.

Looks to me like the Robinson Armament XCR with an XM8 stock, except that FN's version is quite, well, ugly. Now, if stylish good looks matter, below is a copy of an XCR I Photoshopped a SIG550 stock to and emailed to Alex Robinson a week ago to "help" him decide which stock to put on his XCR.

On a technical level, I prefer the XCR's ambidextrous positioning of the controls, a la XM8.

One observation I noticed on the XCR, and now on the FN (first time I seen a pic) is that the line of sight above the bore is really, really high.  Looks to be maybe four inches?  You would have to aim over the head to make a head shot at close range, in other words they shoot real low at point blank ranges.  I have personal experience with high sights, and I don't like em.

Thanks for sharing the pic Bandit-ExcaliburArms.
