How much do early Colt AR-15's cost if it was in decent condition.  I know this is a broad price range but how much?

I think it really depends on how early you are talking and what condition it is in.  Do you have a serial number or serial number range (86XX)?  How would you rate the gun, condition wise?

I have a Colt SP1 for sale that I just inherated.  I was told it was made in the early 1960's but I don't know much about guns.  The serial number is 054 and I am asking $900 for it because it is pre ban or something?  It is still in the plastic wrap and box it came in and also I will include the two 20 round mags with it that I think came in the box because they are also in the wrapper.  If you dont think $900 is fair because new AR-15s can be built for around $600, I guess I could take like $400 for it.  Let me know if anyone wants it.
Yeah, Right

Do you have a phone number for Carter's Country?

Thanks.

That's dangerous...my heart was pounding when I read your post.  If I were a liberal, I'd sue your ass.

This price was from 1988 when I purchased my preban Ar15 rifle. I have no idea how much they are selling AR15s now. If you still want the phone number for Carter's Country, I'll check it out for you.

ps...the 30 rd mag was just a giveaway from the salesman.

There are 4 Carter's Country stores in the Houston area.
Pasadena: 713-475-2222
Southwest: 281-879-1466
Treshwig Rd: 281-443-8393
Katy Frwy: 713-461-1844
However I was in the Pasadena Store 8/04/04 and a colt HBAR is $1049 and a Bushmaster Varminter is$1199.

zro260n2wks, if $630 was the price @ Carter's Country in 1988 then the same rifle could probably have been purchased for around $570 at a show.  Carter's prices are high on just about everything they sell.

You're probably right. The thing is I haven't been going to gunshows back then so I didn't check around that much. But that's been a long while so it's just fine with me.
