I got my rifle out of the safe today that has a SWFA Super Sniper 12x MRAD rear focus scope on it. I got it in December and havent even taken it out to the range yet.
I was adjusting the rear focus, it was at 10m, and tried moving it past 15 meters and it wouldnt budge, I used a bit of force. I took the scope off the rifle, and tried loosening the focus ring's screw. That didn't help, so I completely removed the screw and the ring.
Whats crazy is that the screw/pin that adjusts the focus will not track. If I remove it and put in the position for infinity it will fit. Its almost like the scope was slammed really hard which caused the tube to cant and that is what is preventing the pin from traveling past a certain spot. If I manually use a tool to adjust the focus, it adjusts just fine, and looking through the scope it doesnt look like there is anything wrong with it.
Any ideas on what caused this?
I just got my calipers out and measured the difference between the center and the outside extremes where the pin will fit. The center is .108 inches wide, and the sides are .116 inches wide. The scope had to have been bumped or something which caused the tube to cant a little bit. I am lost at how that even happened, or what kind of force would be required to do that.
