I installed my Faxon 16" 308 mid length medium taper barrel in both my PA10 and M5e1 and both required an Armalite "carbine" gas tube (5/16" longer than AR "mid length") to reach proper length (middle of cam pin cutout). Standard mid length falls too short.
Is this typical, or was the port (and shoulder) too far forward on my barrel?
This is my M5e1 with an Armalite "carbine" gas tube. With a standard mid length gas tube, it was 5/16" shorter (didn't even reach the cam pin cutout). Gas block used is BRT micropin, perfectly centered, perfectly lined up with port (made sure of that myself).
Do you guys use Armalite specs for the port/shoulder distance on your DMPS compatible barrels? If not, why is this barrel this way (instead of DPMS port/shoulder specs which use standard gas tubes)?
Any info greatly appreciated. Thank you!
