For the last month, the median time from first pending to approval is 207 days. Submitted date does not equal first pending date. Call the NFA with the serial number to find out when your form 4 went pending. Then add 207 days and you'll have your approval date plus or minus 10 days. My guess is November 1st. |

Man - I just recompiled the stats and if we look at just the approvals for form-4 suppressors through trusts. Since October 7th, there has been 34 approvals with good enough data to use. The average time to approval from when the check was cashed to getting approval (not receiving the stamp - too many variables affecting that time outside of the NFA) was 216.5 days. The minimum time in those 34 approvals was 206 days and the longest was 280 days (that looks like a real outlier). The time for approvals have been increasing in the last couple of months. For example, there were 42 approvals with good data between 9/11 and 9/19 and the average time from check cashed to approval was 205.9 days. So the time has increased by 10 days in just a month. So if the average time doesn't increase anymore, you are looking at 11/14. It's really frustrating. My Recce 5 suppressor took 235 days to get approved, from check cashed, 219 days from first pending, . I truly do not understand why it takes so long. I hope you beat the averages! |

Just got off the phone with ATF, my first Checkmate QD was approved two days ago. No estimate of when the dealer will get the stamp though.
edit: 227 days Purchased: 2/11/2016 Form 3 approved to dealer: 3/16/2016 Form 4 submitted: 3/8/2016 Check cashed: 3/14/2016 Approved: 10/26/2016 Still waiting on another Checkmate QD and a Resistance 45 both purchased in May, checks cashed in July. Expecting approval for those no sooner than May 2017 |

Just purchased a recce 5 mod 3 from Hansohn Brothers, gonna be a long year

Yeah, i'm probably going to cancel my order with Silencer Shop
Griffin has not even started production of mine & I purchased 6 months ago.! So with my time so far & your projections, it will be nearly 400 days! FN Griffin should not have taken orders if they knew they were going to be "down" for such an extended timeframe Letter from Griffin: Post 41F, we decided to completely revamp our production machines when we started having QC issues. We have spent almost $1 million dollars on new machines, tools, robots, and inserts. When upgrading to top of the line machines that offer dual spindle, live tools, bar feeder, and automated robots, all of this required new programming that you have . We have been attending new training on the programming of CAM software as well as training on the Fanuc OS of the machines. We are still in the process of programming the robots, upgrading the coolant systems and programming them and integrating their programming into our application of parts. We also are upgrading the chip blow off systems and integrating them into our programming. We also have finally found a setup person recently who actually has experience with dual spindle live tools on FanusOS to start prepping the machines and making tool and insert lists for each part. Also, the new master cam software that is available didn't support our new machines. We had to have new custom posts written for the cam software to translate programs to language our machines understand. As you can imagine, a new post has been slightly bug filled and we are hopefully close to filling in all the missing blanks on the post. Not to mention all new master cam users are basically beta testers for their new X software version, so we have been in almost daily contact with them to fix issues. Once we get all the applications done, machines fully upgraded, and the machine tools and inserts ready. We can then begin to start proofing out all the parts in the machine and figuring out machine run time on different parts. From that, we can then learn the insert and tool life and prepping purchases of that. Once we figure out all the part run time, tools, inserts, applications, etc.. We can then devise our production schedule off this information. I hope this answers you question and provides you with some more information. So, exact time frames? I do not know. Soon, yes? When soon is, not sure yet. New production parts isn't just as easy as buying the machine and pushing a button sadly to start pumping out parts. Thanks, Tech |

No...it was supposedly in stock when I purchased on-line while on the phone with them

I'm pissed at both.
Griffin has admitted that they post 41f, tore down there shop to develop new equipment, processes & procedures. I don't want a newly designed or tooled item that isn't tried & true. No prototypes for me. I am going to cancel with SS as soon as I get ahold of BAFTE & stop the NFA process. |

View Quote The NFA process can't start until Griffin Armament manufactures the can, at which point it would be transferred to Silencer Shop on a form 3, then another form 3 to your dealer, where a form 4 would be started, which is the first place anything specific to you gets sent to the BATFE. |
|
I know they can't. I will be posting the e-mails stating "the" process that Griffin & SS say is industry standard.
BAFTE responded to me on Saturday & will be in contact with them Monday morning for additional conversation. The whole process with them has soured me on them both as vendors. My posts in this forum have disappeared as well. Thread lightly when doing suppressor business with these two. As a side note, Silencer Shop shows having the Griffin I ordered in-stock for sale, but the IS not really the case. And they are showing the old style, not the new gen \embossed dimpled outer style. Considering their processes are new I don't want some experimental\prototype hardware Thanks for listening everyone, more info to come |

Also submitted on 4/15 So far I've tried it on my M&P core 9mm and a 14.5" AR I have to say I was expecting suppression to be so-so since its a "do-all" can I was really impressed with it with 9mm but was really really surprised how well it worked with 5.56. Hopefully tomorrow ill be able to put some 300 blk through it |

I'm jealous, I won't be able to take mine out to test for a while. Right now the only gun I can put it on is my AR SBR. http://i.imgur.com/V3PrNGw.jpg?1 I need to get my Remington 700 threaded, my CZ Scorpion engraved and a new muzzle device, and my 16" AR needs a new muzzle device. I was not ready for this at all! View Quote I had my 700 cut to 20" and threaded ready and waiting. I used the included Minimalist mount. I got a chance to shoot some 147 grain FMJ through it tonight and I was absolutely blown away. I thought the Optimus would be a pretty big compromise since its a 1-3/8 tube but it wasn't. I don't have any audio test equipment but it seemed well within the limits of hearing safe Didn't get a chance to shoot 300 blk through it yet and still have to decide on how I want to mount it on my AR9 One thing I did find is that my 147 grain plated loads with 3.2 gr titegroup don't cycle every time with the suppressor on my M&P. I looked around and it seems most are using at least 3.4 gr titegroup |

Finally, the stamp for my Revo45 came in yesterday, and today I was able to take it to the range. Very happy with it. I'm leaving it in the long configuration so there won't be any complaints about how hard the extension is to remove when it's been loctited in, or any of that. The only thing I wish it came with was the hex tool to remove the piston...but I can live without it (and I have a Resistance 9 on order anyway, which should include it, so I shouldn't need to order one, in theory...)
Shooting it without hearing pro didn't ring my ears at all. I have an AAC Illusion that isn't really hearing safe; I'd say the Revo45 is, at least at my ears. Not that I'd want to shoot a 400 round course without ear pro, but for a few mags, it's sufficient. I'm really happy with it. My only question now is should I orient all the baffles one way, or alternate them, or orient half one way and half the other, or...? I noticed quite a POI shift at 30 feet and it took me a while to nail that one down. I think I did, but I was just wondering if anyone knew if there was a better way other than lining all the baffles up and then just rotating the can until it happens to work... |
