I haven't put any more ammo through this gun since April. But as of April it has 7500 rounds through it. My initial test was to take it to 6500 rounds and target it every 1000 rounds. The only cleaning that has been done was to run an oily patch through the bore every 1000 rounds before targeting and I cleaned the bolt carrier once after 5000 rounds. This was because the one malfunction I had was a light primer strike due to the firing pin channel being gummed up with grime. The only part I've had to replace are handguards. Since I have done all the testing with simulated full auto fire with a Slidefire stock, the handguards have not held up to the abuse. They aren't really designed for high rates of full auto fire to the tune of 7 magazines as fast as you can dump them. Since we haven't started building M16s yet we don't have any M16 handguards in stock at this time. So I just keep on melting and replacing them.
But no other parts have been replaced and the gun is still running without fail. I am going to try to start getting some more ammo dumped through it soon. I just want to see what fails first.

As you can see by the serial number this is an early gun and was built in our first months run of guns:

That's awesome, thanks for sharing.

One more thing that affirms you guys are turning out quality guns.

7 mag dumps with the slide-fire? Talk about abuse!!!

I love a dirty gun. Don't give in and clean it. Just a little lube.

This is why I had my BCG Ionbonded in chrome nitride.

Do you run an average of 500 or more rounds for your testing?

How did the firing pins recess get full of carbon?
Not to be dumb, but I have run a lot more and didn't see any problems. Not being negative, just following your testing.

Actually I think I am wrong about that on second thought. There is carbon on the end of the firing pin but the channel is actually not that bad. I think it's all of the carbon caked on the outside of the bolt and inside the carrier. I just ran another 300 rounds through the gun today and just took the carrier apart. The bolt is pretty hard to move at this point since it's been another 2800 rounds with no cleaning. When the carrier is bone dry and carboned up like that it's probably not locking in all the way, hence a failure to fire. In all actuality it's not a completely fair torture test, but I didn't really intend for it to be fair. I'm just trying to break the thing
Sorry for the misinformation. I'm certainly not always right

My average with that gun has been about 300-400 rounds a session.

So when are you going to quit building useless, unreliable DI guns and come up with a super robust, heavy, piston system?

Might be fun to use 100 round Surefire mags with your Slidefire stock. That would get it heated up pretty well...

Are those reliable? I don't have any experience with them.

I have not had first hand experience with the Surefire highcaps but they seem to get good reviews:
