Moved a thread regarding problems with Beowulf ammunition to this section and it has disappeared.

To answer the question, we did encounter a specific batch of primers that had intermittent problems. This was identified during batch testing and the lot was captured, however a small number were shipped. Subsequent testing showed that the problem did not constitute a safety hazard as the ammunition in question would not fire. This ammunition may be identified by this lack of function and we will replace any such ammunition. Typically the primer is brass colored in this batch.

Smitty,

The thread was not deleted intentionally, but lost when it was moved to the appropriate forum, since it applies to the Beowulf.

Have you called AA yet?

Yes , I called on Tuesday and the lady I spoke with was very defensive and and seemed like she did not want to help . She asked wich color the primers were and told me that she needed to know what color the primers were . Well I checked most of my ammo and I have both colors .
Its hard for me to call you guys during the day because of my job .
Which ones have the issue ? Let me know so we can see what we can do .

I understand that my post was accidently lost , but it just appeared it was deleted . That is why I did not comment at the time because I wanted to cool off and be reasonable about this situation . I also know that I am not the only person with this issue and I am sure you get a number of calls every day .
I have 2 beowulf's and use them for hunting hogs in close quarters . I cant afford a misfire with a 300 pound hog with tusks charging and my weapon does not fire .

Thanks ,

Smitty,

That is certainly understandable. Most of the primer problems, possibly all, occurred with the brass colored primers.

The Beowulf makes a great hog gun, but we certainly can understand your concern under the circumstance and we want to make this right. Please PM me with contact information, and when it is best to call you and we will call after hours if we need to.

Thanks for your patience and understanding!

O.K. most of my ammo has silver primers but some has the brass primers . I think I will now go through all of the ammo I have and remove the brass primered rounds .
If I have cased ammo should I open all boxes to inspect or would two or three boxes in a case be sufficent ?

Have you guys started putting lot #'s on your ammo boxes now so it would be easier to trace issues ?

As soon as I have a round count I will PM you that information along with my contact info .

So as long as the rounds have silver primers there should be no issues correct ?

Smitty,

The issue was with a small batch of the brass colored primers in the middle of a large run using those primers, the majority of the large run of ammo produced with those had no issues.

If you have actually had misfires with some of the ammunition, we would be happy to exchange the boxes (case?) that you have had issues with.

If you HAVEN"T had misfires, there is only a slim possibility that there will be any problems.

We don't currently run lot numbers, but it is something that we have considered and continue to evaluate. One of the issues is what do you use to determine the lot numbering system? Do you change lots with each new box of primers, each new keg of powder, each day, each week, change of bullet, change of brass, each and all of the above, etc.? Our batches are relatively small in comparison to what someone like Remington runs when they do .308, so we have a relatively good handle on when each group of a particular loading is processed as it is. We aren't sure that the additional time spent numbering boxes really gives us much advantage.

To our knowledge all the issues were with brass colored primers, and only a small fraction of those.

In your hunting situation, if you have concerns, it would make sense to only use the silver colored primers, and save the brass primered rounds for plinking, etc. However, as mentioned above, if you have actually had misfires, then we need to know about it and will do everything in our power to make it right.

As stated in my original post I have not had any missfires myself was concerned because a couple of friends who also shoot beowulfs had issues . I know our ammo came from different sources
but I am concerned about what I have which I mostly got direct from you guys . I have not checked all of what I have yet but most of It is silver primers . I think so far I have come up with about
100 rounds and most of that is 334gr hollow points .
Although I have not had any missfires , this ammo seams to burn dirty and leave the rifle very dirty .

So since I havent had missfires yet what should we do ? I am not against plinking this stuff but it does get a little expensive plinking at $1.50 per round x 100rds

Also I should not have any issues with ammo which has silver colored primers ? CORRECT ? I do not want to a.s.s.u.m.e. anything !

Smitty,

If you have not had misfires, and you have used ammunition from the case/boxes you have, it is unlikely that you will experience any problem. If you do, obviously, please send the round that misfires, plus any rounds from that box and any others to us for an exchange.

You should not have any problems with the silver colored primers.

Very understandable, and I apologize for the time it took to clear this up and the confusion about that particular batch of ammunition. About the time we think it must have all been shot, and that there probably aren't any more issues to deal with, someone pops up with a question about it!

Thanks for your patience in dealing with it!

Happy Hunting and go kill some hogs!

Had a B L A S T this past weekend ! ! Shot up most of the suspect ammo at the range with no misshaps about 80 rounds . Still have about 80 rounds left .
My shoulder is a little sore and blue . But worth it . Nothing like the look on people at the range when the Wulf bangs and they expect the pop of a 223 .
