Will the MK16 rail be offered commercially?

I'm also interested, more Mlok slots are relevant to my interests.

They look good, but what are you wanting to mount on the mlok at 5 or 7 oclock? Because you can direct mount surefire scouts on the MK8 in those positions as it is. Of course if theyre lighter and slimmer then thats another thing.

That's a lot of M-Lok. I like my MK8 just fine. View Quote |

Those with the older style set screw anti-rotation tabs would be perfect.

Quoted: If that’s the case, that is beyond lame. I had a ton of interest in the rail (in various lengths), zero interest in an upper. The Mk16 would essentially make the Mk8 & Mk14 obsolete, it boggles my mind why Geissele would hold back. I can’t imagine anyone buying the Mk8 or Mk14 knowing the Mk16 exists, available or not. I do like my MK8 just fine, but after using the Troy Alpha M-Lok rail on my carbine, I definitely prefer the more circular shape of the MK16 type rail. The MK8 has the cross pattern as mentioned and you really have to have to have your support hand thumb in the 10 oclock position, facing towards the muzzle. Basically, I feel limited to the type of grip I have with the MK8. But I would never get rid of it. You know the answer, get both.
So as soon as the URG-I becomes available, I'll FO. |

For me, the cross-shaped profile of the MK4/MK8 is less than ideal, and while I like my MK14, the profile is a touch on the slim side for me. Without handling one, the MK16 seems like it would be the sweet spot with the rounder shape that I like, but a slightly larger circumference. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Quoted: LOL Its the same shape/profile as the Mk14 but instead of cutouts its Mlok slots. If the Mk14 is too slim then the Mk16 is very very likely to be too slim as well. But until we get actual specs we wont know for sure. Just looking at pictures though, they're identical otherwise. View Quote |

Bought a Mk8 yesterday. With the added weight of a suppressor on a 16" barrel, I'm going back a shorty VFG and putting my thumb inline with the bore at 10:00. After using standard pic rails (DD, Larue, Centurion) for over a decade, then a KMR and URX4 for the last few years, I find slim round handguards are better for putting my thumb over the top and larger cross shaped handguards are better for a VFG and thumb at 10:00 due to the ledges they have.
People look at these things wrong, which is "if it's the newest version, it must be the one to have, so I don't understand why anyone would buy anything else?", when it should be a question of "does this do what I want and need it to do better than anything else?". ETA: Just watched the Geissele 2018 New Product video and Bill specifically says at 1:19... "You're not going to be able to buy this rail as it sits, it's only going to come with an upper that we're going to sell...". So this is all a moot point. Get the Mk14 if you want slim and round. |

Agreed, I have a MK4 on my 10.3" build and was trying to convince myself to get a MK14 for my 8" 300 blackout build as it was the "newest". After a lot of consideration, I realized that the 45 degree M-LOK slots were a necessity as I use Arisaka inline mounts for all of my Scout lights at the 45 degree location. Is it as thin as I'd ideally like? No, but it accomplishes everything in a bomb proof package.
Also, as to short vert grips, I am a huge fan of the Unity Tactical VFG. Ditched all of my old Magpul M-LOK verts for them and haven't looked back. Lighter, more compact, and more contoured to the hand. |

Quoted: Yep and the Mk16 appears to be the perfect rail. If they dropped them today, I’d buy 5 in various sizes. I have no interest in any upper that is pinned and welded. I’d love to see Geissele release the Mk16. Everything about the rail looks perfect. Quoted: Per Bill in the 2018 Shot Show new products video, the URGI will be available as a complete upper (which includes a pinned & welded SF Warcomp) and also stripped (upper, barrel, and mk16 handuard only, so no BCG, ACH, or pinned/welded Warcomp). Prices were $1379 and $979. Maybe we can at least get some 10.3 URGI’s? I’ve been drooling over that Mk16 9.5” rail ever since photos of it popped up on the internet.

Got my MK16 URG the other day for $829. I wanted just the rail, but overall I am happy with the complete upper. For those on the fence the upper is a worthwhile purchase, especially at $829. https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/20856/FB0CDD80-E084-4298-9D93-E6D20712D41B-606447.jpg View Quote |
