Suspense is killing me, any pics and info available?

Dear Big G,
Any news on the Mk9? I'm in the market for a total of 4 Geissele rails and am on the verge of buying Mk8s, but wanted to see the 9s before making that decision. |
|
[#6]
Do I get one to review for making the post? (wanting it for a 16" recce, my sbr has a mk1)
|

[#7]
I decided to go a different route and since given up in even hoping for a response for Geissele about this rail or the MK6.
I don't think that I'm asking for anything crazy, not even a picture if they don't want to. A simple description and an eta, even if it's a year out would have been wonderful. With how great Geissele CS is and their relative activity on the forum, I know that they have seen the posts and chosen not to respond. That's what I don't understand. |

I checked and it sounds like it's still going to be a while and hasn't been seen, if I needed one today I'd probably grab a mk4

What what is the basic design premise? How is it supposed to be different? Slimmer, lighter, etc?

Waiting on a mystery rail with no release date? Seems foolish, unless you really don't want to finish the build any time soon.

I'd like to see a geissele rail that was slimmer similar to the image posted below where the black solid lines are, cutting D segments off. Keep the mounting system and rigidity but slimmer diameter all around. https://36.media.tumblr.com/46d2b782540b05337c2210759622a839/tumblr_o5rgpxEkMv1v7ujrso1_500.jpg View Quote A 1.5" OD rail in MLok would be ideal. |

Agreed. I'd say they're pretty close. Just take the EMR V3, reduce the OD a bit, and cut the M-LOK slots in the same places as the V1. Boom, instant hit. I have a V3, but REALLY want a rail like mentioned above. Lots of rail covers just don't fit well on the V3 because of where the slots are located, and while other rails work, having the rock solid mounting of the Geiselle/ALG rails would be a definite plus. |

I'm hoping it's some sort of oval shape like the remington RAHG that fills in the hands.
I felt like the gaps between the 3,9, and 6 o'clock portions of the MK1 in combination with the low 6 o'clock bottom were not that comfortable for the hands. |

Need one of these in 7-8.5" for a 9" 300blk upper... want the most rock solid rail possible, and that means G.
Might end up with a 7" mk8 but would rather a full quad rail. |

The MK9 is still in the works but we do not have a set ETA for it right now.

Outside diameter and attachment method (M-Lok) is what I am most concerned with. and lengths?! They said that those of us who like the Mk1 will like the Mk9. There better be a 10" to replace my Mk1 so I can have MLOK. |

[#36]
The mk1 mounting system appears far superior to mlok, why swap? (offer me it first)
|
|
[#37]
Why the demands for M-LOK? Why not just get a MK8?
I just really want to know what the MK9 is at this point, but the implication has been that it should be similar to the MK1... or at least people trying to scrounge up MK1s have been told to wait for the MK9... Since we're talking pie in the sky, I want to see an improved MK1 (not sure what they would improve, but that seems to be the implication ), not a MK8 with a slightly different profile. I guess if guys are talking about replacing their MK1s if the MK9 has M-LOK means I might be able to find someone who will swap out their MK1, at least. ~Augee |

[#38]
I passed on the MK8 because it's wide and heavy in the longer lengths. I love the Geissele/ALG mounting system though, so if the MK9 is a slimmer, more comfortable, lighter rail than the MK8 and comes in M-LOK, Geissele will have another customer.

Can the MK8 be slimmer and still ensure that the M-LOK mounting system doesn't interfere with the barrel/gas block?
Serious question, as I have only limited experience using M-LOK and with the MK8. Just curious because a lot of people seem to want a slimmer MK8, but I'm wondering if there's a practical reason it's as wide as it is. ~Augee |

[#40]
Daniel Defense's new MFR is pretty slim and it uses mlok. I don't see why the MK8 can't be either.

I suspect MK8 is so wide because in some lengths, the slots overlap with barrel nut. The additional width ensures there is enough room for the MLOK hardware. None of this is really necessary. Another possibility is a lazy CNC programmer.
I had two MK8s, but sold them because I really couldn't look past its width and the 12 o'clock Picatinny rail slots all have middle portion milled out. I am hoping MK9 has an octagon shape with slight rounded angles and has mounting slots on all 7 sides, similar to ALG EMR v3, but with 7 sides instead of 5. Doesn't matter if it is either MLOK or MK1 mounting interface. |

To me it reduces weight and cuts out material where you don't need it. Agree with the width though. |

It sounds like some of you guys just want the EMR...
I want a quad rail, with mlok slots in the diagonals (kind of like if they took the current mlok MK4 and just pulled the rails all the way back, leaving the slots in the diagonals mlok compatible. |

Not all top rail slots milled out, but rather the way EMR v3 or MK1 have - every other slot or every other two slots. EMR v3 as it is is less than ideal because it only has 5 mounting interfaces instead of 7, and its barrel nut doesn't help. Not saying it is bad, but I would much prefer the SMR barrel nut. |

I like full quad rails, but they've already said in so many words that the MK9 should be something people looking for the MK1 would like, so I can't see it being a full rail.
MK7 is a full rail, though it's supposed to be a NM rail. ~Augee |

MK6 is supposed to be the G quad rail. We know about as much about that rail as we do the MK9 though...
